Excellent escapist SciFi buddy comedy made for nerdy millennials - destined to become a cult classic
22 October 2021
I'm not a millennial. So I didn't know who youtuber Julien Bam was when I started watching "Life's A Glitch". But if anything features parallel universes, count me in.

I was really surprised how funny this was. The level of detail and the sheer number of funny conversations and jokes is pretty amazing. It also has some good messages.

Since Julien Bam is basically his real internet persona, acting is not important, though he and his youtube friend Joon Kim deliver some really enjoyable performances. Madieu Ulbrich stands out as "Diego". He is just hilarious, though his German gangsta slang may get lost in translation when you're not a native speaker.

The series has massive "Back to the Future" vibes, but with parallel universes, and Doc Brown is a woman.

However, it's extremely creative on its own terms, very quirky, and it doesn't take itself too seriously.

It seems Netflix Germany has a much better hand when it comes to choosing projects.

If you're American, you may like it too, or even more than Germans.

Watch this if you love "Back to Future", "Role Models", and any nerdy SciFi stuff, and if you want to make sure Netflix produces good German stuff in the future.

The series is kind of concluded, but there is much room for a funny outcome if there is a second season.

EDIT: Because I was the first to review this, and now see how much hate this gets, I can tell everyone: 1 star reviews are bogus and written by jealous narcissists, especially if their review history is basically non existent. If you don't like the humor, it does not mean something deserves only 1 star.

To the guy who wrote the 1 star review: The series is not xenophobic. That is ridiculous because the makers have a migration background.

If anything, it's making fun of certain types of German people.
