Porkys or Miracle On Ice?

Warning: Spoilers
It was a good movie, but some things took away from it being a very good movie. The bad was all the sexual and juvenile comedy. It was trying to be a serious movie about a small town in the arctic wilderness. Instead of focusing on showing how isolated and difficult the townspeople's lives were there were silly scenes like the store clerk accidentally shooting a corporate town taker rep (Michael McKean), and all the sexual relations of the town. Michael Myers was also irrelevant. No one believes Michael Myers can play some hockey great from Flin Flon. Another comic distraction. The great was Burt Reynolds. Too often typecast as an action film actor, Reynolds did a great job as the town judge and former hockey legend of the town. The hockey part was very good, too. The ending was original and made the message of the film - a small town overcoming its isolation and low self esteem - more powerful. So, it was a good film that was lessened by a lot of cheap comedy.
