Incredibly filmed. Kit Harrington delivers. Actually, all of the on screen talent delivers. Production Designer did an excellent job. Lighting and Sound-Great! Editor-Fly!
My problem with this series is the Catholic mercenary group lead by Harrington's character (Catesby) was "planning" on blowing up the Palace of Westminster and clap King James I, but they only succeeded in blowing up themselves. (SPOILER ALERT BTW).
I think if the screenwriter wanted to create a better script, and a better series, could have ventured off track, and maybe provided a more solid Act-3: One where the "Spaniards" blow the English to crap-that is to say: excrement! (Crap DISCLAIMER: This is a 200 year ago comparison reference) Instead, this three-part mini-series ends with a group of flint locked armed religious rebels blowing themselves-up before a Butch Cassidy & Sundance Kid" ending scene.
Watch this HBO Series, just beware of Fast-Forward.
