Step up on wrong turn genre

I almost didn't watch this thinking this is one of those gory wrong turn slasher torture movie. But then I saw some reviews up here like "girl is so stupid" "characters making stupid decision" and I was like okay let's see some people making wrong decisions and have a laugh. What I got was the opposite!

The first scene of this movie tells you everything you need to know about what our lead character is about. She must be using apple maps because she ends up in a country road crossing path with two brothers. What unfolds is a slow burn, sometimes active and sometimes lingering tension that keeps you engaged. With her size and ability she does best in the situation she is in and thus is completely realistic and believable. Couple of twists here and there are well executed.

Problem is the bad guys are very generic. I wish the writers put a little effort on their intentions. Their chase feels unmotivated. If you can get past that you got a solid thriller which will keep you warm for close to 2 hours on a lazy day.

Country is shot beautifully. Actors have done a decent job. A side lead introduced later stands out in this performance. The ending is a little rushed and I wasn't satisfied.
