I had never heard of the books before so I came to this without any bias. And as a fan of fantasy, I really wanted to enjoy but was it hard...
The plot has more coincidences and anchors than I could bare. Just to name a few, the girl who is being hunted decides to hide in the very wagon of her hunters; a tracker manages to find a mystic stag without any effort while the powerful general had been searching for it for ages (even if the stag "chose" to be found, it is a way too long stretch).
Then, in a series of fights, the guys with power to kill someone in a second instead choose to brawl, make villain speech and leave the enemies alive time after time, in the most predictable foreshadowing. Speaking of which, choosing an actor who always plays good looking guys who turn out to be villain is the mother of all foreshadowing.
On the bright side, the visual effects are good enough and the locations are beautiful. But that's about it for me.
Judging by the other rates here, it seems the series might have pleased fans of the books. But I sure won't be back for another season.
