But it never cut to the chase...
15 April 2021
Well, of course I opted to sit down to watch the 2016 movie "Cut to the Chase" here in 2021, when I was given the chance to watch it. Sure, I hadn't even heard about the movie, so I didn't know what I was in for. But the fact that the movie had Lance Henriksen on the cast list was sufficient enough to win me over.

Throughout the course of this ordeal of a movie, I have to admit that I was sort of thinking 'cut to the interesting part'. But that just never happened, and the movie just trotted on in a very bland and monotonous pace, with a storyline that had very little appeal to me. And as were the characters, bland and mundane, and offering nothing worthwhile to the audience.

Your patience will be sorely tested when you sit down to watch "Cut to the Chase", and I have to admit that I struggled through it, and I gave up with about 30 minutes left to watch. But by then, I was just bored out of my mind and I literally had no interest in the storyline or the wooden characters that milled about on the screen with no sense of purpose or direction.

I never figured out what writer and director Blayne Weaver was gunning for with this 2016 crime thriller. It was particularly thrilling or interesting.

The acting in the movie was adequate I suppose, but the actors and actresses had literally nothing to work with in terms of a proper script, interesting characters or even a movie that had any sense of direction or proper pacing to it. So it was a losing uphill battle for the cast.

My rating of "Cut to the Chase" lands on a three out of ten stars. This was a swing and a miss movie in terms of it providing me with entertainment. And it is definitely not a movie that I will be returning to watch the remaining 30 minutes of.
