My kids picked this one (thankfully it was on Prime so I didn't spend money). I'll give the creator the benefit of the doubt and call the blatant thematic and attempted scene recreations a homage. The animation and voice acting were awful. The cast is good, but they are definitely phoning it in on this one.
With all that being said, the movie itself has some charm, but I chalk most of that up to the Ghibli residue.
