Mathu vadalara is a good crime comedy.
There it little doubt about that.One of the first things that anyone with any intention of watching this movie should Know before hand ,is that there is a major spoiler for breaking bad in the beginning of this movie.A lot of people seen too be showering praise on this movie's excellent bgm. I thought that the use bgm was unnecessary at a lot of junctures. The breaking bad and Sherlock references seemed to be a bit cheesy.A lot of camera techniques and angles used can be seen in several similar Hollywood movies.
The plot too doesn't seem to be as original as indicated by a lot of other reviewers. In fact innocent young roomies (with our without jobs) getting into trouble with a gang or racket is the basic plot of a number of crime comedies irrespective of language. The ending seems too be vague and abrupt and slightly unsatisfying for a crime comedy.But scenes from the spoof soap opera was surprisingly funny. If you think a bit, one will realize that both the plot twists are quite weak (although they felt quite good before). Since the movie is short, for it's own benefit, we never get to see how well Babu and yesu knew abhi and for the second twist Babu conviniently forgets to check the pulse(As per our dear friend Dead pool, that is some lazy writing). Any way considering South Indian stadards mathu vadalara is a decent movie. If you guys know Guy Richie, then u know what I mean. if you guys liked this movie please do watch soodhu kavvum(2013). It is one of the best modern Indian crime comedies.
