9/10
I can't stop thinking about it, now that it's over.

I have recently starting getting into anime, thanks to Netflix. As I came across Devilman Crybaby, I watched the trailer and it seemed like an entertaining series. But I had no idea it would be so great. Each and every episode was very well written and animated, but what left me deeply intrigued was how it made me root for the characters. Especially episode 9, that gave me chills and not just because it was violent or gory, but because the emotional undercurrents were something I had never experienced before. I am still unable to stop thinking about it as I type this review.

Devilman Crybaby is an outstanding, dark action horror that is strictly not meant for kids. While some of the explicit content was played for comedic purposes, I found a lot of it scarier than any live-action film/series. That being said, it's strictly NOT for kids. There's heavy sexual content, the action sequences are gory and the tone is extremely dark. So beware, some of the moments in the series would be really hard-hitting and emotionally charged for sensitive viewers to handle.

Anyways, Devilman Crybaby is a well-made show that is everything one could hope for from a near-perfect series of this genre: action-packed, scary and emotionally haunting. One word for the soundtrack, without which this review is far from complete. The music is excellent, and something I'd like to go back to again and again.

That being said, if you're mature enough to handle a dark, grim action series that perfectly combines action, horror, humor, tearjerker moments and an epic soundtrack with unforgettable characters, wait no more and watch this series instantly. Trust me, if you happen to like it, you too won't be able to forget it for quite a time. Chances are it might haunt you, not because it's scary but because of how emotionally impactful it is.
