Not for the Faintest of Hearts

Warning: Spoilers
Devilman: Crybaby is the darkest and most nihilistic anime I have ever seen. I usually like nihilistic films and shows, but Devilman: Crybaby is on another level. All of you're favorite character will either become a demon and die or die in the most disturbing ways possible. Miki Makimura's death and aftermath is one of the most disturbing scenes I have ever seen. It's a truly horrifying mini-series that doesn't hold anything back.

When it comes to the plot, it has a lot of technical issues. There's a lot of plot holes and a lot of underdeveloped plot devices. Devilman: Crybaby doesn't give a lot of exposition that is drastically needed in such a plot. Luckily, the story and pacing is good enough to look past these issues.

Overall, Devilman: Crybaby is a series that is not for everyone. It's extremely brutal, profound, and dark. I liked the fight scenes and story, but it's hard to get over how sad the ending truly is. One thing I do want to mention is that, in my opinion, Devilman: Crybaby is not a masterpiece. There's too many issues for it to be labeled "masterpiece".
