I suppose it not the director's call, but the version I saw could DEFINITELY have done without the incessant audio editing, and disclaimer messages, that appear throughout the film. I think in a less-censored country, Shaitan would be more powerful than this lackluster presentation. Generally, the actors were fine. A good story was told. Action sequences were well done, but come on, India, we're in the 20th century. A little profanity here and there won't collapse your economy.
