Literally the most depressing thing I have ever watched. I should have looked up reviews, because the rape scene, infant loss, and manipulation were very distressing for me. I finished the series in hopes of a happy ending..... that didn't happen.
I will say that it was very well made, like most BBC period dramas, and I do appreciate how Tess stood up for herself...... but seriously, the depravity of (most of) the characters is repulsive. I was hoping for some redemption, but the only thing evident was wickedness.
