The Immortal Story (1968 TV Movie)
6/10
Bizarre, fascinating, handsomely designed, but talky and pretentious as well

Warning: Spoilers
A weird, good-looking piece of Welles trivia; it's fascinating and handsomely designed, but talky and pretentious as well (more than a third of the film is taken up by Roger Coggio chatting up Jeanne Moreau, trying to convince her to join Orson's charade). Best taken as a lark (without much of a punchline) than as something "deeper" about storytelling, wealth, hybris or whatever. At least, at one hour, it doesn't overstay its welcome. **1/2 out of 4.
