English mysteries usually have their own quirkiness about them, The Stranger being on e of them. It starts off slow, but speeds up eventually with quite a few twists and turn in its storyline. It could have been a classic if the script was more consistent and believable, but it all depends on what viewers like or expect really. Unfortunately the ending - final 10 minutes - might be a big letdown for some as the script appears to be have been "made up 5 minutes before filming" (to be polite at best) as it lacks any connection to the original story. Good show let down by a wonky script.
