Who Killed Malcolm X? (2019–2020)
10/10
A Great Investigative Work

Warning: Spoilers
I was he of little faith...prior to hitting the play button. Yet, I was in awe down to the last second of this film. It's a great investigation that the filmmakers should be proud of. These filmmakers were able to unearth more than I've seen in the death of Malcolm X.

It doesn't go without a fair amount of cringing on my part. Pinpointing the shotkiller is a huge step and you all already knew dangers in proceeding with the "allegations". This film goes to a higher level as the "real" killers are profiled.

It doesn't stop there.

Another level is attained to shed further light on bureaus and teams that make no effort to expose truth even though it's documented almost immediately after the event in question. They knew. They were there. They swept it. Amazing.

Graphically, you all did a great job in showing people that were involved and moving the story along with the guide that led the way. It was also interesting to almost see him reveal more of himself in the last 6th of the film.

I only had one issue. I felt that the introduction of legacy paintings and newly reproduced photos appearing in the first segment, maybe as late as the second segment, came early for me. It took me in a direction that often reserved for the conclusion of movies. It was a look into how people memorialize Malcolm X today (similar to the ending of Spike Lee's X). With 85% of the narrative remaining, it felt premature.

I would be proud to have completed this much investigative work. I know how it feels during less impactful investigations so I can imagine the impact of this historical event.
