The three adult children (Francois Arnaud, Chelsea Frei, Jay Baruchel) of Ann (Elizabeth Perkins) and Sean Moody Sr. (Denis Leary) have gathered for a family Christmas. Dan just broke up with girlfriend Ali. Cousin Marco has new girlfriend Cora. Dan develops feelings for Cora. Bridget cheated on her husband. Irresponsible Sean loses another job. Uncle Roger has new girlfriend Mukta. Secretly, Sean Sr. has cancer.
This should be one of those dysfunctional family holiday movies. Instead, it's been split into six episodes and then shown two at a time anyways. It works better as a movie together. Otherwise, this is fine and fits the genre well. The adult children are perfectly dysfunctional. Uncle Roger could be funnier if Mukta can play against him. There are some other minor characters who don't get the needed space. The other thing about a single movie would be to consolidate some of those minor characters. Overall, I love many of the main actors and this is a functional dysfunctional family holiday drama.
