I would say it had potential, but that's being too generous. Nothing ever really takes off, and the ultimate direction the story takes ends up being predictable. The supernatural elements are all incidental - they could have just as easily done the whole movie without them.
The characters are all pretty one dimensional, especially the father. I was hoping to see a hidden side with him as the movie progressed, but he turned out to be exactly what I expected.
I noticed people have mentioned the scenery/setting. It's nice, I guess, but it just makes me realize another big problem with the story/characters: there's a big problem with the size of the house and the amount the main character is allowed to see (which of course, she conveniently never questions).
