The issue with Minder was that you had to be careful about glorifying low rent criminals. It was a fine line you had to tread and not upset the television regulators.
This episode sees Minder acting more like Robin Hood which makes Arthur and Terry to be the good guys.
Arthur helps out an old friend who got swindled out of her late husband's insurance payout by Freddy Fenton over some land investment in Spain. The police can do nothing about it so Arthur sends in Terry to look into it.
Terry's investigations leads to a chain of people who blame each other, bad luck and bad business decisions. When he finally gets to Freddy Fenton (Derek Jacobi) he tells Terry that he himself is broke and on benefits. However Freddy is living a double life as Arthur finds him in the casino gambling and driving a Rolls Royce.
Terry uses his dodgy mechanic friend Des to turn the tables on Fenton. Jacobi gives Fenton a touch of sneering class.
