"Auf den Spuren der Vergangenheit" tells the story of an old man who is about to die and sends a woman he trusts in order to make peace with his son, who he lost over a fight many years ago. When the two of them meet, it is, how could it be any different, love and after some rather unfriendly behavior, the stubborn son opens his heart and returns home.
The film is pretty much your average tv love story, maybe best described as a mix between a romance for housewives and Schiller's "Die Räuber". The plot is rather predictable and in general you won't find a lot of new, creative ideas. However in what it is it is solid, delivers enough entertainment value to not feel like a waste of time and carries a positive message that everyone needs every once in a while.
All in all this is nothing special or very original. You pretty much know what will happen from the very beginning. If you just want to switch your head off this might be a good choice, otherwise you'll find something else.
