Forever (2014–2015)
7/10
Above average series with an interesting and thrilling premise , being marvelously performed and stunningly directed
26 November 2018
It's a long story dealing with Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd) , a 200 year-old man who is working as an expert forensic in New York with his colleague, Lucas (Joel David Moore) , and is attempting to figure out the key to unlocking his so-called "curse" of immortality. He works alongside Detective Jo Martinez (Alana De La Garza) who is intrigued with him , both of whom resolve complex killings . Along the way Henry goes home to sell antiques in his prosperous shop with his good but elderly son, Abraham (Judd Hirsch) . Henry tries to protect his secret as he is torn between his mysterious past and his unending future as he attempts to find a cure for his immortality. The only persons that know are Abe and Adam (Burn Gorman), a man having the same condition who has been alive for 2000 years . Who says you only live once?

Fantastic series full of intrigue , murder mysteries , tension , suspense , twists and a lot of flashbacks remembering the previous life of this 200 year-old man . The picture has numerous influences , sharing similarities and likeness from other films and novels , and taking parts here and there of Mark Twain's Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court , borrowing elements to A. M. Esmonde's 'The Final Version' novel and even Highlander by Russell Mulcahy . Awesome acting by Ioan Grufudd who works at the NYPD morgue as a medical examiner and attempts to finds out his past , discovering a dark family relation with slavery . Along with the charming Alana De la Garza who investigates twisted criminal cases and she has to choose in love either the attractive wealthy man Isaac Monroe : Cuba Gooding Jr. or the mysterious Henry Morgan . This guest star Cuba Gooding Jr who intervined in 3 episodes, is the only Academy Award winner to appear on the show . They are accompanied by Judd Hirsch who plays his son Abe, and in his younger acting is played by David Krumholtz , seen in flashbacks. David Krumholtz performed Hirsch's son in the successful series Numb3rs (2005) . Other important but secondaries roles are the following ones : Donnie Keshawarz as Mike Hanson and Lorraine Toussaint as Chief Inspector Lt. Joanna Reece . This series was well produced by ABC that ordered a full first season of 22 episodes on November 7, 2014 for the creators , the professional showrunners , expert writers: Matthew Miller, Chris Fedak, and Phil Klemmer ; however , being cancelled in 2015, only two days after its season finale. As several fans of the splendid series maintain active effort in order to the show to have it brought back into production. The series was well directed by good TV filmmakers as Brad Anderson , John T. Kretchmer ,Peter Lauer , Jace Alexander , Steve Boyum, Steve Shill , Rob Bailey , Michael Field and Matt Batber . Rating 7.5/10 , notable and magnificent series that will appeal to fantasy and thriller fans .
