The original book version is a million times better than the movie. The characters in the movie were all very one sided whereas in the book, you go in depth with the characters and their relationships.
Which brings me to the next point, WHERE IS THE CHARACTER DEVANTE? I'm genuinely pissed... They took out a character that was crucial to finding out Khalil's real personality, SO WHERE IS HE??? I will forever hold a grudge against this movie for taking away my favorite character.
Also, in the book, the author clearly states that Garden Hights has been filled with riots, so much so that the father had to go over to take care of the score (which, by the way, was only mentioned one in the movie). Instead in the movie, they decided to make a single protest that was later classified as a riot.
