Phineas and Ferb (2007–2024)

We all had a great summer

It wasn't until the 2010s that we got into a Golden Age of animation. This is of course not to say that there weren't groundbreaking cartoons made in the 2000s, especially this one. I've seen nearly every episode of this show and it's worth checking out. The premise is pretty simple as every episode features Candace trying to bust her brothers Phineas and Ferb for creating some amazing invention. Their mother might be the only one in Danville who is unaware of what they do. Some episodes do in fact show she would be mad and punish them if she found out what they did.

There's also the subplot of their pet, Perry the Platypus trying to stop the evil Doctor Doofenschmirtz. This was one of the funniest cartoons ever made. Its biggest strength is probably how likeable the characters are. Candace is my favorite character if only because she fails at everything as I've always had a soft spot for characters that continually failed, like Charlie Brown or Team Rocket. It probably makes them more relatable. The animation is great and we all get really pleasant characters as few of them are genuinely evil.

It is in fact predictable, but at least there's different inventions every episode. Franchises like the "Transformers" movies are monotonous because their characters are so unappealing and you can even tell the actors aren't having fun with their roles. They acknowledge their formula many times and acknowledge other things in general. There's tons of great jokes and while not on the level as something like "The Amazing World Of Gumball", still a ton of fun to watch. I think I was introduced to this show by watching a YouTube clip. It's pretty reassuring knowing that every time a great animated Disney show ends, there's always another one still going on. ****
