Everyone's an a-hole, and then it's over

Do you like characters who are irredeemable? Do you like characters who act completely irrationally? Do you like characters who make nonsensical decisions that contradict? Do you like characters who have barely character development? Do you like last-minute attempts to humanize asshole characters?

Well you'll love The End of The F***ing World!

I'm serious here. In the first 4-5 episodes every character has little, if any redeeming qualities. The characters are so flat you could blow them over just by breathing. It made me not care at all for any of them. Near the end, they tried to humanize the leads, but these attempts failed as the characters had already been presented as cynical don't-give-a-**** teenagers. Make no doubt, almost every character needs serious help. The series also pads it runtime by wasting plotlines that inevitably go nowhere, get resolved rather quickly, or add absolutely nothing to the story in any meaningful way. Finally, there are points where characters take one action, but then later take another action as if they suddenly just had a drastic change in moral code, despite there being no explanation for such a disparity of actions. It's extremely confusing and it makes you hate those characters even more.

If you want to watch a show and get depressed about how much you hate every single character, this is a great show for you. If you want actual depth and complex characters and actual story arcs, this show is not for you.
