Waiting for Arnold
18 May 2017
An episode centered on catering a Young Republicans function evokes a certain sense of humor. But every joke at their expense completely backfires, and that subversion makes this episode a lot of fun. And everyone involved gets excited at the prospect of the governor showing up (spoiler alert: Schwarzenegger doesn't).

But everything really gels here. Adam Scott and Lizzy Caplan share a nice chemistry on the sidelines, the supporting players get worked up over nothing ("wait, we're giving the conservative governor Communist cigars?!") and both Ken Marino and Josh Gad almost compliment each other in their overbearing personalities. I thought it was even funnier than the pilot and the strong ensemble adequately supports the shrewd conservative jokes (Freedom-tinis abound).
