Already liking this, derivative qualities aside.

Yes, this show does bear remarkable similarities to the ones Covenant mentioned, as well as several others. But it's still good. I have only seen the first two episodes on Netflix but am quite impressed, It reminds me, style-wise, of the BBC's version of "Wallander" with Kenneth Branagh. That program didn't have ghosts but some of the characters were so ethereal and doomed; they may as well have been.

The liberties taken with ghost action (riding a motorcycle with a helmet, for example) were weird but made sense if you think of the ghost girl is still doing things the way she would when alive. She has not yet accepted the fact that she's dead, which is probably what a ghost would do at first. I hate to use this as a reference since it's such a lesser film (in my opinion), but look at the trouble Patrick Swayze had negotiating the real world until he met a ghost who showed him the ropes.

The cast is also very good as is the acting. The landscape and productions design are, again, very similar to that of "Wallander", with the wide, flat fields, pale sun, old, crumbling houses or cold, modern ones. There seems to be no sanctuary anywhere in this particular world. I can't wait to see how this plays out.
