Not A Great Role Model
19 August 2016
What I love about this show is that it promotes positive body image and self-love. But that is where my good feelings end.

I love that Whitney has such a positive outlook on life, and I envy that a little, but what she does to prove this and to promote the whole No Body Shaming is quite frustrating. First of all, it is said in one of the episodes that she has health issues, and a way to get better is to lose weight. But in order to keep her self-loving image, she ignores this. She is putting herself in harm's way so as not to contradict her NBS campaign, and is setting a bad example to those who look up to her as a role model. There are also a few episodes where she will try more strenuous things, like skiing, and has a very difficult time with it, gives up, and blames it on her weight. I understand how difficult something like that can be but when you are on a TV show, saying that you can do anything regardless of your weight, you can't blame all of your failures on that very thing.

I don't feel like the show is doing its job with creating a positive influence and role model, and I don't think it is 100% necessary to carry on with it, unless they do something to change it. I've tried giving it a few more chances, but every time I do, I end up feeling frustrated and I turn it off. Again, good for Whitney that she is able to get on national television and share her story with the world, but I wouldn't consider her a good role model.
