Everybody has to start somewhere

Warning: Spoilers
"The Dirk Diggler Story" is a half-hour short film from over 25 years ago. And I am fairly certain that this one would be completely unknown if it wasn't associated with the name Paul Thomas Anderson, simply because there is nothing memorable about this little movie in terms of story, directing or acting. On the contrary, it looks very amateurish, but given the fact that Anderson was only 17 when he came up with it and it was obviously his very first work, that's okay all in all. Still, who's have guessed that this was made by the same man (boy) who also directed the masterpiece "There Will Be Blood". Diggler is played by an unknown actor named Michael Stein here. The famous movie "Boogie Nights" is a remake of this short film and in there, Mark Wahlberg plays Diggler while Stein only has a small cameo performance. Anyway, this one here is possibly PTA's weakest career effort, but hey: nobody's perfect, right? Especially not at such a tender age.
