Loved this film enough to see it twice
17 December 2013
This (very) low budget movie is a Northern gem you don't have be a northerner to appreciate. I first saw it at a tribute to Margaret Atwood - who does appear in the film - eventually. Then had to see it again at the Female eye Festival. The story is trig-comic, the laughs come just at the right time. Beth Mairs carries off the difficult job of being both Director and actor really well. She's funny, sweet, completely endearing. The only slight criticism I had was that for some viewers (overseas students, and perhaps any in the far south) a map of the terrain, the vast area of Georgian Bay on Lake Huron, would highlight the sheer madness of taking the "short" cut without taking the ferry. Can't wait to see more from BAM and Beth Mairs.
