Review of Priest

Priest (2011)
7/10
Not Legion, but still falls short
14 May 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Paul Bettany is a fantastic actor with great potential, and he does show it in this movie after the giant 2010 fluke, Legion. But sadly, the movie helmed by the same director of Legion, Scott Charles Stewart, fails to deliver. The story has great potential, but fails to show it because of it's extremely short run-time of 87 minutes, but at least has the ability to fill in gaps for a second and third film if this does well because if this becomes a franchise, it could be something new and original in the sci-fi/horror/action genres. Another actor that was incredibly fantastic was Karl Urban as Black Hat, the once priest now, something else. He plays the role so well that it could be his best yet. So, is it worth seeing? Yes. Is it worth 3D? No. Not recommended for everyone but if you like action, thrills, and story, then this is a movie you can enjoy. Hopefully they release a second film to depict the war between humanity and vampires.
