Though a very good film, Happy Feet does not seem to me to be wholly appropriate for kids. The children in my theater cried at least twice during the film. There are some very funny parts, but the film is kind of dark. There are fairly intense chase scenes involving leopard seals and killer whales. Abandonment is a theme, and at one point the main penguin is put in Sea World, where the narrator talks about his mind practically going numb. I would recommend that parents think twice before taking small children. The message is good, and some parts are cute. However, this movie's dark elements kept me from taking my young cousins to see it.
