A lot of fun!
4 February 2005
We saw Bride and Prejudice last night at a special preview showing. It was a lot of fun. I especially enjoyed the singing and dancing. The costumes are colorful and add to the general enjoyment. This movie is based on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, one of my favorite books. It's a good idea, in order to place this story in modern times, to place it in a culture where the children are more protected. I don't think this story would work in the present time if it was in the United States, for example, but this film is a perfect blend. The leading actress is a former Miss World. She is beautiful and talented. This is the first "Bollywood" movie I have seen. I recommend it. The scenes of singing and dancing reminded me of the scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off when everyone in the street was dancing to Twist and Shout.
