This was the hugest waste of time I have every experienced! I think I'd rather pull out my own wisdom teeth than have to sit through this film! Being a young Australian film maker (or wannabe), I decided to give this film, directed by Alex Proyas (Dark City), a go. Big, HUGE mistake.

Revolving aroung a band consisting of Freddy (Kick Gurry), Tanya (Pia Miranda), Lucy (Chris Sadrinna) and Joe (Brett Stiller), this film deals with what is,I suppose, every young bands dreams of killing off the pokies, re-establishing live music in pubs and also being signed with a record label. It's a fun idea which could of been done alot better. The story line is actually not too bad. I mean, it's simple, yet effective and appeals to young and old (look at Joe's dad, he's pretty funny). But the actors were flat and unconvincing. Kick Gurry's performance was mediocre but Pia Miranda just suceeded in annoying me. Her turn as young Josie Alibrandi in "Looking for Alibrandi" was a better performance for those of you looking for more of her work. Chris Sadrinna as Lucy, the bands drummer, is a standout (the part with rating the drugs was good) but confused young Joe was irritating, as was the sterotyped, Woggy manager, Bruno. Honestly. Kate (Maya Stange) was a groupie of sorts, I think, who suceeded in whoring herself around with both Joe and Freddy throughout the film. Joe goes mental and Freddy blackmails a high profile band manager. Lucy and Tanya get it on. Kate gets preggers. Joe's the father. Freddy gets angry. phatjay gets bored. Yawn.

So I suppose if you're a young Aussie band, like many thousands out there, and you wanna live out your fantasy through this film, by all means, watch it. But for those non-musicians out there, pass this one over at the video store and go for some other Aussie films such as "Lantana" or "Lets Get Skase" or other rock band films such as "This is Spinal Tap" or "Almost Famous".
