Review of Hammerlock

Hammerlock (2000)
1/10
scathing review here!

Wow this movie is astoundingly bad! I say from experience, it's not worth the money you'll spend to see it.

There were several problems with this movie.

1) The Plot - two annoying prison guards have to find two "dangerous" felons who've escaped within 24 hours in order to save the pension/benefits/etc. of a retiring Roger Mosley. The hunt is on, blah, antics ensue, blah. It's less exciting than it sounds.

2) The Cast - Pat Morita, Demond Wilson (Sanford and Son!), and Roger E. Mosley (Magnum P.I.!) must have owed someone a favor. Or they're desperate and homeless and will take any movie thrown at them. They couldn't save this movie even if they had been on the screen for more than 15-20 minutes (Pat Morita doesn't appear until 45 minutes into the film!) The unknowns of the cast are putrid actors. I found it impossible to care for what they were doing. Of course they couldn't have saved this film, considering the movie's other major problem...

3) The Script & Direction - C.T. McIntyre was probably proud of what he made. He wrote and directed this bad boy, so he's wholly responsible for the atrocity. I never understood what help he was trying to provide by throwing in animation...little "hints" like "Look out for so-and-so" or "she was more easy-going as a blond". Made NO SENSE AT ALL! Maybe he thought he was being clever and funny. I don't know. I never will know.

Seriously. Usually bad movies provide something rewarding...stuff so horrible it's funny, like "Hamburger: The Motion Picture" or even "Troll 2". But "Hammerlock" was almost two hours of nothing. I sat there...bored...angry even!...by the events taking place on the screen. And then I remember: I spent four dollars to see this. ...
