Rosen-Resli (1954)
Lurid stuff - beautiful young star
18 July 2004
This trashy, lurid, often unbearable cloying story nevertheless was a huge commercial hit thanks to the luminous performance of Christine Kaufmann.

Already a beauty at this tender age she played the much-troubled heroine with burning eagerness, tempered with sweet, fragile charm. Critics loved her dearly and for a short while she was second only to Romy Schneider in the popularity polls.

'Rosenresli' is a prime example of the shrill melodramas that made millions at the box-office during the 50's but on the long run ruined the German film industry.
