Remember when 1883 Season 1 launched on Paramount Network out of Yellowstone?
At the time, a handful of episodes aired before viewers had to stream the rest of the episodes on Paramount+.
It caused a lot of commotion amongst fans who did not have the streaming service.
Thankfully, those fans are getting their wish and will be able to watch all episodes of 1883 this summer on Paramount Network.
1883, the Yellowstone Origin story, will air weekly on Paramount Network beginning Sunday, June 18 at 8 Pm Et/Pt.
The good TV news doesn't stop there, either.
The special broadcast will include extended featurettes at the end of each episode, meaning 1883 fanatics can get an inside look at how the episodes were made, among other things.
1883 follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America.

Incredible as it may seem, this is Nicolas Cage’s first western, although he clearly enjoyed shooting it, because he’s already done another one (Butcher’s Crossing). Essentially a knock-off version of True Grit, The Old Way isn’t especially overwhelming in terms of plot and direction, but it’s eminently watchable all the same, thanks to strong onscreen chemistry between Cage and young co-star Ryan Kiera Armstrong.
The film begins with a prologue sequence, in which grizzled gun-for-hire Colton Briggs shoots and kills almost everyone during an attempted hanging, including the man he was supposed to be rescuing in the first place. Twenty years later, Briggs (now sadly sans moustache) has hung up his guns in favour of raising his young...

Nicolas Cage's acting career spans 41 years and over 100 movies. That's more than enough time to make just about every type of film, and Cage has been plenty adventurous in his choices. He's done dramas, comedy, action, horror, suspense, war flicks, and several unquantifiable brain scramblers. He's played Ghost Rider. He's played the screenwriter of the film in which he's starring (and the screenwriter's fictional brother). He's played himself.
But somehow, after all this time, Cage hadn't appeared in a Western until recently -– and the itch must've hit him something fierce, because he's now made two of them! One is "Butcher's Crossing," an environmentally conscious tragedy lamenting the ruin of America's westward expansion. The other, which opens in theaters today, is "The Old Way," and it is precisely the kind of Western its title indicates. Cage stars as Colton Briggs, a reformed gunman whose peaceful domestic existence is shattered...

Nicolas Cage scholars might quibble with the promotional claim that Brett Donowho’s “The Old Way” is the actor’s “first traditional Western” — a choice of words that’s careful not to step on the spurs of neo-genre fare like “Butcher’s Crossing” and “Prisoners of the Ghostland” — but
The first part of the problem is that Donowho’s competent but uncompelling oater doesn’t have enough fresh meat on its bones to fill out its Western cosplay. While Morgan Smith’s jaunty score does its best to summon memories of “My Darling Clementine,” and Carl W. Lucas’ threadbare script channels the same one-way modernity that “Shane” once rode towards an uncertain sunset, “The Old Way” clearly lacks the ambition to shoot for any identity of its own.
Even worse is that it gestures towards one anyway, as this low-budget genre exercise allows its characters just enough ammunition for us to...

Fourteen months ago, it was announced that the great Nicolas Cage would be making his Western debut with an action-packed film called The Old Way. "Tell me the names of the men who did this." Saban Films + Lionsgate have revealed the official trailer for The Old Way, a western action thriller from a filmmaker named Brett Donowho (that can't be his real last name?). The marketing describes this as Nicolas Cage's first ever Western, which might just be true? Why not. An old gunslinger and his daughter must face the consequences of his past, when the son of a man he murdered years ago arrives to take his revenge. Another typical Western story involving a man with a past who must fight off those who came after him when they find him. Sounds like so many other films. Starring Nicolas Cage and Ryan Kiera Armstrong, with Noah Le Gros, Clint Howard, Kerry Knuppe, plus Nick Searcy & Shiloh Fernandez. This doesn't look so bad, doesn't look so good either. At least Cage has a glorious mustache!

1883 Episode 10
Near the conclusion of this 1883 season 1 finale, the great Graham Greene’s newly-introduced character, Spotted Eagle, tells Tim McGraw’s hero of the story, James Dutton, that James looks “like a man who plans”.
There’s a reason 1883’s creator, Taylor Sheridan often writes about these steadfast characters born of an era where a man’s love of his family and his land was everything. There’s a reason why Sheridan always has the Dutton family typically one step ahead of their rivals. It’s because good writers write what they know. Good writers… write about themselves.
It is crystal clear that Sheridan has always had a plan for 1883, and it has been evident from the very first episode. Fans who will go back to the premiere now that the season is complete will pick up on hints and foreshadowing Sheridan left that are...

1883 Episode 9
Taylor Sheridan clearly came in with a plan of attack for the debut season of his prequel, 1883. The pacing throughout this batch of episodes has been a carefully crafted ride, swooping up hills, dipping into valleys, coupled with a great balance of character development, shootouts, and old-West chaos to keep any audience member entertained. A major component of that ride has been the season-long mystery of what will become of Dutton-daughter Elsa (Isabel May).
In the season premiere, audiences were witnesses to the show’s golden-haired heart shot through the belly with a Lacota arrow in a horrific attack on her group of pioneers. That scene, literally a fiery introduction to the motifs of the show, conveyed the death and danger that would become characters of their own throughout the 9 episodes so far, but it left many questions. How did this happen? When does this scene fit into the timeline?...

The Dutton family's journey is continuing. Paramount+ has ordered additional episodes of the 1883 drama which launched on December 19th. The streaming service didn't call the order a second season or a renewal but, as THR notes, "adding another batch of episodes to an existing season is sometimes a contractual sleight of hand used in order to continue a series without invoking the salary bumps triggered by an additional season order."

Paramount Plus has unveiled an official trailer for the “Yellowstone” prequel series “1883.”
“1883” follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America, offering audiences a stark retelling of western expansion and a study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land, Montana.
The trailer opens with a shootout in a field, and as it comes to a close, John Dutton (Tim McGraw) says to two nearby men, “So y’all just sit and watch? Thanks for the help.” The trailer continues as you follow Dutton and his family attempting to travel west until they find “country’s worth the journey.” Clips are shown of the journey beginning to intensify, as Shea Brennan (Sam Elliott) attempts to control the traveling group, saying in one clip, “You can police yourselves or I can do it,...

Exclusive: Firestarter reboot lead Ryan Kiera Armstrong and Evil Dead alum Shiloh Fernandez are among cast to have joined Nicolas Cage in action-western The Old Way, which we revealed last week.
In The Old Way, Cage stars as Colton Briggs, a former gunslinger who now runs a general store and lives quietly with his family. When a gang of outlaws murders his wife in cold blood, Briggs returns home to find his world burning. He unearths his sidearm and saddles up with an unlikely partner: his twelve-year-old daughter. The project marks Cage’s first ‘traditional’ western.
Armstrong, who plays Briggs’ daughter Brooke, recently starred in American Horror Story: Double Feature on FX and will soon be seen in Blumhouse’s Firestarter, where she will reprise the role of Charlie, made famous by Drew Barrymore in the original 1984 adaptation of Stephen King’s classic novel. When I think of my favorite casts in a movie, Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead invariably comes to mind, as I love watching the interactions between Sarah Polley, Ving Rhames, Ty Burrell, Michael Kelly, Mekhi Phifer, and Jake Weber as much as I enjoy the fast zombie action (I'm firmly in the camp that enjoys both George A. Romero's lumbering flesh eaters and Snyder's frenetic living dead sprinters). I was especially thrilled, then, to speak with Weber about his enigmatic role in the new mind-bending sci-fi horror film The Beach House, which follows two very different couples in the midst of an otherworldly ecological transformation on the secluded seashore.
During our in-depth chat, Weber talked about what drew him to the character of Mitch in The Beach House, and he also discussed the movie's quiet sense of dread, working with first-time feature director Jeffrey A. Brown, collaborating...

This week, Shudder welcomed another stellar indie horror film to its ranks, The Beach House from writer/director Jeffrey A. Brown. Starring Liana Liberato, Noah Le Gros, Jake Weber, and Maryann Nagel, The Beach House is centered around two couples who happen to end up staying at the same seaside vacation home for a weekend. What starts out innocently enough as a cozy dinner with great conversation morphs into a living nightmare as the quartet of characters find themselves contending with a cosmic horror they cannot possibly begin to understand.
Earlier this week, Daily Dead spoke with Brown about The Beach House, and he discussed the inspiration behind the setting of his debut feature film, his approach to working with his cast and crew, and more.
Be sure to check out The Beach House now that it’s streaming exclusively on Shudder.

The Beach House (Jeffrey A. Brown)
There’s a lot to like about Jeffrey A. Brown’s feature directorial debut The Beach House, from its gorgeous production design to its ruminations on mankind’s fragility when compared with Mother Nature’s hardier offerings (despite our penchant for believing we hold dominion over Her). It’s therefore easy to appreciate the reason Emily (Liana Liberato), Randall (Noah Le Gros), Mitch (Jake Weber), and Jane (Maryanne Nagel) have arrived at a site that may end up being their tomb because we’re quick to ignore the baked-in irony too. This was supposed to be an escape from life’s struggles—a...

Contained horror has an added bit of resonance right now. After all, many of us are still essentially stuck in our homes. Moreover, eco-horror is rather under-explored as a sub-genre of fright flicks. So, The Beach House enters with a few things in its favor. However, the genre offering, debuting on the streaming platform Shudder today, shows too much restraint for its own good. There are ideas and scares, to be sure, but the balance is off. What should be foreboding and tense instead just becomes relatively boring. The periodic effectiveness of the concept, as well as the lead performance from Liana Liberato, is drowned in poor pacing and an inability to keep the viewer’s attention. The movie is a horror offering, seeing a small group of people deal with a truly nefarious infection. When Emily (Liberato) and Randall (Noah Le Gros) arrive at his father’s beach house,...

Being released during an epidemic lends additional if unintended frisson to “The Beach House,” a cryptic yet reasonably involving thriller in which vacationers find themselves under threat. The nature of that threat remains ambiguous, but in its partially-airborne inescapability, it definitely hits a note of creepy relevance. Writer-director Jeffrey A. Brown’s first feature is neither fish nor fowl in terms of fitting snugly into any given genre slot — perhaps it’s . In any case, it’s skillful enough to satisfy most viewers, if not quite sufficiently original in concept or striking in execution to leave a lasting imprint. It premieres July 9 on AMC’s streaming imprint Shudder.

Not the most horrific of horror movie titles but The Beach House features two college sweethearts on a getaway to the sea and the aforementioned beach house. Shortly after their arrival they come across some unexpected guests and an environment that doesn’t seem to want them their.
The Beach House somehow manages to feel very familiar, even to the pint that if features quite a few horror clichés, but still highly original too. It ‘borrows’ ideas from some horror and sci-fi classics but brings plenty of its own aswell, which many of the best movies do.

When the Covid-19 outbreak first went global, there was a feeling in the film industry that pandemic movies might be off-limits for a while, but in fact sales of existing films and literature on the subject have increased, perhaps as a result of people looking to fiction as a means of learning, finding solutions or at least working through their fears. Like most diseases featured in cinema, the one you'll find here is rather more gruesome and fast-acting than most real ones. Those suffering from it don't show much respect for social distancing, but the scale of events means that this is only a fraction of what our heroes have to worry about.
We begin in happier times - though perhaps not perfect ones. Young couple Emily (Liana Liberato) and Randall (Noah Le Gros) are enjoying a week away at the titular beach house, but all is not easy between them.

"Don't be scared." Shudder has revealed an official Us trailer for the indie "cosmic sci-fi horror" film called The Beach House, marking the directorial debut of filmmaker Jeffrey A. Brown. This premiered at a few genre film festivals in Europe last fall, and will be streaming on Shudder this summer. A romantic getaway for two troubled college sweethearts turns into a struggle for survival when the guests - and the surrounding environment - begin to show signs of a mysterious infection. The Beach House is described as "a striking and timely eco-horror that offers up an alluring mix of claustrophobic isolation, mysterious contagion, and dreamy seaside setting with a show-stealing lead performance from Liana Liberato." In addition to Liana, the film also stars Noah Le Gros, Jake Weber, and Maryanne Nagel. This seems to have a bit of that Lovecraftian cosmic vibe, with some mysterious infection and slimy creatures slowly taking over.

The Beach House is a post-apocalyptic thriller. To show on Shudder in July, the film was developed by indie horror director Jeffrey A. Brown. In Brown's film, a family retreats to a remote family home. Here, they struggle with isolation as an environmental contagion begins to warp the local peace. The Beach House stars: Jake Weber (Dawn of the Dead), Noah Le Gros (A Score to Settle) and Liana Liberato. Now, a couple of early stills are available before the release. The filmmakers have described the allure of The Beach House, recently. They describe The Beach House as "an indie apocalyptic sci-fi thriller that presents an alluring mix of scorching seaside imagery, claustrophobic isolation, mysterious contagion and gruesome body horror." All of these elements mix in a small locale, this July. On July 9th, Shudder will debut the film. To show in the UK, Canada, U.S. and Ireland, The Beach House...

There are some independent horror films in which all the pieces are in place for success. The cast is strong, the visuals evocative, the direction precise. It can be a movie that, for all intents and purposes, “works.” And, yet, due to the subjective nature of art, we as the viewer feel disconnected in some way. We recognize the pieces, we recognize the successes, but in trying to grab hold of something in the film our hands ultimately close on air. For me, this describes the experience of The Beach House.

Here’s a weird little Nicolas Cage trailer for you to check out for the upcoming film A Score to Settle. I can’t tell how serious I should take the movie. It seemed like a decent revenge story, but then got a little cheesy when Cage confronted the teenage hooligans. But Cage is super into it, so maybe we should be too. Here’s the synopsis for the film:
Diagnosed with a fatal condition, Frankie Carver (Nicolas Cage) is released from prison after serving 19 years of hard time. With only a short time left to live, Frankie must desperately try to make amends with the son he left behind while he plots a bloody course of revenge - tracking down his old gang to make them pay one by one.

"What if you get killed first?" "At least I get to take a few of them down with me..." Ready for more Cage madness? Rlje Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie action drama titled A Score to Settle, the latest from filmmaker Shawn Ku (Beautiful Boy). Nicolas Cage stars in this in another crazy indie role to go with all of his other crazy indie flicks recently. Cage plays an ex-enforcer for a local crime syndicate who has vowed to enact retribution on his mob bosses after 22 years of wrongful imprisonment. The only thing diverting his violent plans is a new found relationship to his beloved son. The full cast includes Benjamin Bratt, Noah Le Gros, Mohamed Karim, Karolina Wydra, & Ian Tracey. I'm not even sure just how much action this will have, but it definitely does look like it has the perfect amount of rage for Cage to rock.

Exclusive: Freeform has passed on its drama pilot Breckman Rodeo, from writer Steve Lerner, The Americans executive producers/showrunners Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields, and new Freeform corporate sibling FX Productions.
Breckman Rodeo, starring Jess Gabor and Noah Le Gros, was one of three hourlong pilots at Freeform, along with Party of Five and Motherland, all of which had been garnering solid buzz. The Party of Five reboot was the first of the bunch to score a series pickup in February, followed by the witches-themed Motherland: Fort Salem, which was picked up to series in March, leaving Breckman Rodeo as the only outstanding pilot.
The decision to not go forward with it comes a couple of weeks after Lauren Corrao joined Freeform as new head of original programming.
