Netflix hasn’t delivered a huge haul this Tuesday, August 11th, but it has added two new titles to its library nonetheless. Yesterday saw a handful of new movies and TV shows go up on the streaming service, but today we just have one film for family audiences and a comedy special for adults.
Comedian Rob Schneider’s latest stand-up show, Rob Schneider: Asian Momma, Mexican Kids, lands on the platform today and if you’re still watching his stuff even in 2020 then, fair enough, knock yourself out with this new special. The other title going up on Netflix today, meanwhile, will likely have more mainstream appeal and that’s Mr. Peabody & Sherman, the Dreamworks animated movie based on the classic 60s cartoon that released in 2014.
Mr. Peabody & Sherman follows genius dog Mr. Peabody (voiced by Modern Family‘s Ty Burrell) and his adoptive son Sherman (Max Charles). In contrast...

The Lion Guard is a somewhat surprisingly good show airing on Disney Junior, and the story of Kion and his friends continues with a new DVD release The Lion Guard: Unleash the Power.
The release is the first collection of episodes available on DVD, and it’s not only a good selection because these are episodes that focus on the individual members of the Guard, but because these are some of the series’ most rewatchable efforts.
The show is not just a fun adventure for kids, but the series takes on a broad range within its episodic content, tackling some tricky issues, without actually decoding its own efforts and bogging down in overt explanation.
For example, the episode Fuli’s New Family spans a variety of issues, but chief among them is an examination of the idea that just because doing something seems objectively “right,” or, “how friends act,...

There was a lot of buzz when The Strain first hit on FX, largely due to the fact that Guillermo del Toro was involved in something on television. The show has held audiences in its grip as its world became increasingly desperate, and while perhaps not quite at the top of the ratings juggernaut list, it has performed well for the network.
The series has been renewed for a fourth and final season, and while that may seem like an odd “renewing and canceling at the same time” move, that’s not really the case, and fans shouldn’t see it as a negative by any means.
As Carlton Cuse, exec. producer/writer, said in the renewal announce, the plan was originally for a story that spanned three seasons. As things became fleshed out during the creation of those three seasons, it ultimately became apparent that the best version would run four seasons,...
