Last month, we learned that Lionsgate and Blumhouse Productions have made a multi-picture pact that will see Blumhouse reimagining horror classics from the Lionsgate library, with the first project on that slate being the development and production of a reboot of The Blair Witch Project. Now our friends at Bloody Disgusting have revealed that Blumhouse is already planning a reboot of another Lionsgate property: My Bloody Valentine! No further details have been shared.
Directed by George Mihalka from a screenplay by John Beaird (and a story by Stephen Miller), the original My Bloody Valentine was released in 1981 and has the following synopsis: Twenty years ago, a tragic accident in a mine on St. Valentine’s Day took the lives of five miners. The disaster occurred while supervisors left their posts to attend the town’s annual Valentine’s Day dance. The only survivor, Harry Warden, was confined to a mental institution after the ordeal.

The Halloween (2018) episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? was Written and Narrated by Jason Hewlett, Edited by Jaime Vasquez, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
When it comes to horror franchises the Halloween series is a bit like Chewbacca; it doesn’t make a lot of sense narratively unless you really understand what is going on. That’s right, you just heard a Star Wars reference in a video about a Halloween movie. Just roll with it… Technically the Halloween films are four different stories and one one-off tale told over the course of thirteen films, if my math is right away. Only one of these narrative shifts seems to have been done for creative reasons while the rest were undertaken in an effort to continue the series and make more money from the Halloween brand. If this sounds cynical to you,...

It’s time for a new episode of the Awfully Good Horror Movies video series, and in this one we’re looking back at one of the least popular installments in my beloved Friday the 13th franchise. That’s the tenth entry, Jason X (watch it Here), also known as “the one where Jason goes to space”. To hear all about it, check out the video embedded above!
Directed by Jim Isaac from a screenplay written by Todd Farmer (and some uncredited rewriters), Jason X has the following synopsis: The year is 2455. The Place is Old Earth. Once the shimmering blue jewel of the galaxy, Old Earth is now a contaminated planet abandoned for centuries. Yet humans have returned to the deadly place that they once fled. Not to live, but to research the ancient rusting artifacts of the bygone civilizations that caused this environmental disaster. And little does the...

As the world prepares for David Cronenberg’s return to horror with the upcoming Cannes premiere of “Crimes of the Future,” certain fans are taking the opportunity to look back at the filmmaker’s most iconic horror projects. While films like “The Fly” and “The Dead Zone” remain beloved, it’s easy to forget that Cronenberg also starred in “Jason X,” the infamous “Friday the 13th” movie that sent villain Jason Voorhees to outer space.
Screenwriter Todd Farmer recently spoke to The Av Club about the cult classic and recalled that Cronenberg first came on board because his longtime collaborator Jim Isaac did the opening sequence, which takes place inside Jason’s brain.
“That was all Jimmy. It wasn’t in the script. I’m glad he did it,” Farmer said. “And all of that wet gooeyness is because Jim Isaac was David Cronenberg’s special effects guy and Cronenberg was known for moist gore.

Director Patrick Lussier and writer Todd Farmer have re-teamed for Trick, which stars Omar Epps in the main role of Detective Mike Denver, a man obsessed with a serial killer that has remained one step ahead of him for years.
An elusive serial killer, “Trick,” returns each Halloween to kill innocent victims. Detective Mike Denver (Omar Epps) faced Trick once before, shooting him off a five-storey building. When Trick’s body disappears into the town river, everyone thinks he’s dead. Only Denver believes he’s still alive. But now, as strange occurrences disrupt the peace of the town, nobody can deny that Trick has returned. Obsessed with catching the murderer, Denver will do whatever it takes to stop Trick claiming their next victim.
Trick also stars Ellen Adair as Sheriff Lisa Jayne, the sheriff in the small town of Benton who has always considered Detective Denver as her mentor.

More than 35 years after taking on the Silver Shamrock corporation (and their relentless robot henchmen) in Halloween III: Season of the Witch, Tom Atkins returns to the festive atmosphere of All Hallows' Eve to defend his small town against a masked murderer in Trick, his third collaboration with director Patrick Lussier and co-writer Todd Farmer.
With Trick now in theaters and on VOD and Digital HD from Rlje Films, we recently had the pleasure of catching up with the legendary actor to discuss reteaming with Lussier and Farmer, going up against the evil slasher known as "Trick," filming a scene featuring a Night of the Living Dead screening at a church, and he also shared some insights on his character in The Collected, the upcoming third film in The Collector series from Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton.
Congratulations on Trick, Tom. You can add it alongside Halloween III to your list of Halloween movies.

Arriving in theaters and on Digital today is Patrick Lussier’s Trick, which is a super fun Halloween-themed slasher that features a ton of impressively gnarly kills and several badass masks to boot (you can read my review Here). The madman behind all the mayhem and carnage is legendary special effects artist Gary Tunnicliffe, who has worked on an array of genre projects including Candyman, Scream 4, the Hellraiser franchise, both the Feast and The Collector series, and previously collaborated with Lussier and Todd Farmer on My Bloody Valentine (2009) and Drive Angry.
With Trick’s release today, this writer thought it was only fitting to take some time to celebrate Tunnicliffe’s work on the film and discuss his creative process on Trick, his experiences working with Lussier, the design process behind the masks and the titular killer’s weapon of choice, and more.

To be perfectly honest, I was already half in the bag for Patrick Lussier’s Trick when it was first announced: I’m a big fan of many of Lussier’s directorial efforts (I’ll forever stand by my belief that Dracula 2000 is way more fun than it ever gets credit for), an even bigger fan of his editorial output, and have enjoyed his collaborative efforts with Todd Farmer over the last decade (who he also worked with on Trick) as well. Plus, with a cast that boasts the likes of Omar Epps, Tom Atkins, and Jamie Kennedy, and the fact that it's set around the Halloween season, I was more than primed for some slasher-ific fun with Trick, and as a whole, I was not disappointed.

It’s October and the Halloween season is here! That means people are going to be watching lots of scary movies to help get into the spirit of the season. Rlje Films has a new Halloween-themed slasher movie coming out called Trick, and they’ve released a trailer for it.
The film comes from Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry and My Bloody Valentine), and this movie involves a Halloween night mass murderer from the past who comes back to murder people again the following Halloween. After being arrested, he managed to escape police custody, but not before being shot five times by Detective Mike Denver. Canadian and American filmmaker Patrick Lussier's next film is titled Trick. This film fan knows Lussier from his competent storytelling and shooting of Vampires II & III, which this writer saw for the first time, recently. Both films are amazingly well done - for an indie production. With Trick, Lussier is sticking with horror as killer Patrick "Trick" Weaver returns, after a tragedy several years earlier. Now, Trick is returning every Halloween, to finish what he started. Trick was co-written by Todd Farmer. Farmer and Lussier have worked together on My Bloody Valentine 3D (2009) and Drive Angry (Bloody Disgusting). And, their latest stars: Omar Epps (Dracula 2000), Ellen Adair, Kristina Reyes, Jamie Kennedy and Tom Atkins. The first poster and trailer, for the film, are hosted here. "People want a monster that they can fear." We're just about to enter October, which means it's the month of horror leading up to Halloween! Rlje Films has debuted an official trailer for the indie horror thriller titled Trick, the latest from writer / director duo Todd Farmer & Patrick Lussier (both of Drive Angry and My Bloody Valentine). Trick is the latest Halloween night horror, this one also involving a massacre from the past that comes to haunt people again. Omar Epps plays a no-nonsense detective trying to track down the serial killer named "Trick" who is terrorizing a small town. Also starring Ellen Adair, Kristina Reyes, Jamie Kennedy, Vanessa Aspillaga, and Tom Atkins. The main pumpkin mask seems to be inspired a bit by Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat, though this movie looks way more brutal and intensely violent. Watch out. Happy Valentine’s Day, horror lovers! It’s everyone’s favorite time of year, where we all exchange sentimental poems and candy boxes filled with actual human hearts. That’s right—there is no better way to celebrate February 14th than to sit down with a slasher classic. Ten years ago, the remake of the 1981 Canadian horror film My Bloody Valentine premiered in theaters, ushering in a moment of both slasher goodness and 3D madness that would be a bright spot for gorehounds everywhere.
Leading up to this film’s release, horror had seen a dearth of slasher films. Though the prior year was certainly not a bad year for the genre, slashers weren’t exactly all the rage. The Saw franchise was at the front and center of horror offerings for the time period and though definitely gory, it didn’t quite have the same feel of the classic slasher film.

Exclusive: Netflix prevailed to win an auction for Failsafe, a Vault Comics title that will be scripted by Black Panther co-writer Joe Robert Cole as a producing and potential starring vehicle for Michael B. Jordan. Jordan and Alana Mayo will produce through their Outlier Society Productions banner along with Vault Comics’ F.J. Desanto.
The project was pitched on the heels of the Black Panther’s record-breaking theatrical run, and numerous suitors emerged for a re-team between Cole, who wrote that script with director Ryan Coogler, and Jordan, who turned in a powerhouse performance as Killmonger. Sources put the deal in the seven figure range. Jordan, currently reprising in Creed 2 and who will be at Cannes when Fahrenheit 451 plays there, has set up numerous projects through his company. In high demand, he’ll decide whether or not to star when the script comes in. The subject matter certainly fits his wheelhouse.
