This Scarred Me for Life

Movies and shows that have a weird, unexpected, freaky scene or quality or are nightmare inducing in ways they were never intended to be. Disclaimer: I am super squeamish where fake blood and gore are concerned! I do much better watching surgery while eating spaghetti. I'm weird.

Oh, goodness, this was an amazing movie! I loved it so much. It was so much like I had pictured when reading the book. But when SPOILERS

HBC gets burned to the point that she is just raw bloody flesh, bits of cracked black skin, and those huge staring eyes, I nearly threw up. Her eyes still haunt me.

2. Smallville (2001–2017)

Okay, there were a lot of freaky things here, and I stopped watching after like halfway through season 5 or 6. But I almost never made it even that far because of that horrific episode in season 4 when decapitation was suddenly added in, to be followed by the throwing of the head and a good view of its explosion upon landing. True, it had been turned to wax or frozen or something, but it was still way too much for me and way out of character for the show up to that point. I still have nightmares thanks to that episode.

For me it wasn't the hand coming from under the door, it was that impossibly, horribly wrong thin leg disappearing into the corn...

The idea of the mannequin mother was weird enough, but the scene in which a Santa mannequin is hit by a car and shatters had my little sister in tears and me in shock.
