Very archetypal, yet shockingly innovative. The show went out in, perhaps, the greatest series finale in the history of television: perfect, especially in the tragic Greek kind-of-way.

I am always looking for a reason to like this show more, but the last six episodes of the serious completely devastate that possibility.
The fact remains that if not for the existence of those last six episodes--which make it obvious the writers had written themselves into a corner, this would easily be in my top five. Still a great show. It grabs you the first minutes of the first episodes and doesn't let you go until four seasons later.

Yet, it remains a critical darling for good reason--heart, imagination, and excellent acting. John Noble is without peer.

The second season is a bit of an abortion from time to time with a character with the worst southern aristocrat accent in the history of television. Also, the mysticism offered up by Sean Astin's character downplay an otherwise good show.
