[Warning: The following post contains discussions of sexual assault.] Delainey Hayles‘ Claudia revealed harrowing details about her time away from Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Lestat (Sam Reid) in Interview With the Vampire Season 2 Episode 3, “No Pain.” In “No Pain,” Claudia briefly reveals dark truths about what she endured while held captive by the vampire Bruce (Damon Daunno) years prior. She and Louis have been telling the coven that Bruce was their maker, not Lestat, and that he killed himself in front of them, prompting their journey to Europe to find more bloodsuckers. She revealed physical attributes that only she could know to Louis to help keep their story straight, and she eventually detailed the more horrific abuse she suffered at the vampire’s hands. Hayles tells TV Insider that this is Claudia desperately seeking connection with Louis. “She is in a way begging him to ask her more about herself because he never really does that,” she says. While...

Interview with the Vampire episode 3 “No Pain” codifies the Parisian theatrical troupe with signs of sanguinarian cult devotion, and promises of dire consequences. The closing sequence features the ceremony inducting Claudia (Delainey Hayles) into the repertory players of Théâtre des Vampires. It is a giddy moment, for cast members only, and a celebration of the remorselessly debauched comedy made of the lesser creatures in the audience on a nightly basis.
However, there is a serious side to the randomly violent performance arts which is more about occult knowledge than studying acting methods for realistic portrayals. The induction ritual peaks as lead actor Santiago (Ben Daniels) fixes Claudia with the highest drama of theatrical delivery to impart The Great Laws of the Vampire.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Interview With the Vampire Season 2 Episode 3, “No Pain.”] No one can stop talking about the vampire Lestat. The portrayal of Sam Reid‘s French vampire has been entirely controlled by Louis’ (Jacob Anderson) answers in his interview with Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) and Claudia’s (Delainey Hayles) journals in Seasons 1 and 2. But a new narrator gives their take on him in Interview With the Vampire Season 2 Episode 3, “No Pain,” and Armand’s (Assad Zaman) memory of Lestat is notably different. “No Pain” is the brief first adaptation of Anne Rice‘s The Vampire Lestat, the sequel novel to 1976’s Interview With the Vampire that provides Lestat’s backstory and his version of the events of the first book. That origin story is told in short form in “No Pain,” but should the series be renewed for Season 3, showrunner Rolin Jones assures more of this story will be explored. Armand tells Daniel the story ...

Armand and Louis had much more in common than even I realized when they stumbled upon each other in Paris.
They'd both been under the love spell of one Lestat de Lioncourt.
Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Episode 3 continued the deep dive into Louis and Claudia's life in Paris and went further back in time to see Lestat's beginnings at the Théâtre des Vampires.
Lestat and Armand's past was known, as Armand never hid the fact that they'd once been intimate. But he may have downplayed just how serious things had been before them for a time.
From Interview with the Vampire Season 1, we know that Lestat is charming, enigmatic, and manipulative by nature.
To know him, truly know him, well, there might not be a single person who can lay steady claim to that.
Seeing where Armand came from to where we see him in Dubai was shocking,...

This article contains spoilers for Interview with the Vampire episode 3 and Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles novels.
AMC’s Interview with the Vampire episode 3 “No Pain” introduces a character from a future book in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe. In the opening scene, Daniel Molloy’s (Eric Bogosian) ongoing study of the undead is intercepted by “a live one.” The stranger implies knowledge of dubious doings behind the scenes in the insular vampire world. The long-form journalist wonders who this interloper is, and even scribbles “MI6?” on his notepad. He’s not that far off. Raglan James (Justin Kirk) certainly does belong to a secret organization, but he could also be anyone.
Anne Rice lets the vampire Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) tell the story of Raglan James, the title character of The Tale of the Body Thief, the fourth book in The Vampire Chronicles. It begins in Miami, a “city of water,...

A spasmodic love triangle spanning centuries or maybe even a polyamorous tryst acknowledged in silence. How does it feel, as fans of this daringly intense show, to be the only few who’d ever understand what I’ve just said, and how something like that could exist? It’s an odd privilege for us—not for Daniel, mind you—to hear this unreliable tale from the mouths of poetic undead orators. In Interview With the Vampire episode 3, the story has reached the point where Armand’s efforts to make himself appear benign are evident. And I hope Daniel’s paying attention.
Spoiler Alert
How did Armand and Lestat meet?
So, I guess everyone everywhere, at some point in their life, has been in love with Lestat de Lioncourt? From what Armand describes of his 15th-century existence, it seems the real gift of vampirism had eluded him before Lestat walked into Paris.

Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Episode 2 Review: Do You Know What It Means to Be Loved By Death
A change of scenery for Louis and Claudia opened up a world of possibilities for the pair.
And introduced Louis to the supposed great love of his life.
Interview with the Vampire Season 2 Episode 2 was the hour many were waiting for, as we finally witnessed that first meeting between Louis and Armand.
I have to say, Daniel may have been the Mvp of this hour.
His sarcasm poured out of him at every turn as he sat across from two vampires whose words didn't match what he was seeing.
Daniel listened raptly during Interview with the Vampire Season 1 as Louis described his toxic dynamic with Lestat, all while his supposed real love idled nearby, and it's confusing at best to make sense of things.
They sit there, joined at the hip, finishing each other's sentences and putting on the façade that their love is the great one, yet it feels like a performance.

The second episode of “Interview with the Vampire” Season 2 introduced what fans of the Vampire Chronicles have been waiting for when Louis and Claudia finally crossed the threshold of the iconic Theatres des Vampires. The episode, titled “Do You Know What It Means To Be Loved By Death,” began with Louis and Armand co-narrating the memory of their first-ever meeting on the streets of postwar Paris and ended with Louis and Claudia’s quest to find more vampires at an end as not one, not two, but fourteen new vampires enter stage right and take their places in “Interview’s” story.
But who are all of these vampires? Where did they come from? And why are they using projection technology to trick live audiences into watching them drink people for real? These are many questions and in true “Interview” fashion, only some of them have answers.
What is the Theatres des Vampires?...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Interview With the Vampire Season 2 Episode 1, “What Can the Damned Really Say to the Damned.”] Interview With the Vampire is back. The Season 2 premiere brought Louis (Jacob Anderson), Claudia (Delainey Hayles), and the ghost of Lestat (Sam Reid) to Europe as they search for more of their kind. The episode ended with a beautiful, heartbreaking monologue from Louis in which he made an important pact with his daughter, one that serves as the jumping off point for the entire season’s arc. In the video above, Anderson, Reid, and Hayles break down that scene, what it was like to film it, and why it’s so important for the plot moving forward. Louis and Claudia had a harrowing experience in Romania both before and after they found the old world vampires. After four years of searching (notice the time jump from the Season 1 finale!), they finally found ...

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Interview With the Vampire Season 2 Episode 1, “What Can the Damned Really Say to the Damned.”] Interview With the Vampire Season 2 is worlds different from what we saw in New Orleans both figuratively and literally. Our vampire family is far from home in the long-awaited season premiere, which began with a four-year time jump that landed Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Claudia (Bailey Bass) in war-torn Europe during World War II. Their “four years of grim wayfaring,” as Louis’ guilt-induced hallucination of Lestat (Sam Reid) said, were done in the hopes of finding more of their kind. Romania was the latest leg of their search, and it was in this bleak land that they finally found what they were looking for. Sadly for the desperately lonely duo, meeting the old world vampires didn’t go as well as they had hoped. They met two vampires unlike anything ever seen in the series, and they put...

What is the price of being immortal? The true bane of immortality is erosion, where memories elongate and distort over time, and our perceptions of people ebb and flow with the power of hindsight and the lull of nostalgia. Review: Timed perfectly to Halloween, the 2022 debut of Interview with the Vampire beautifully updated the first volume in Anne Rice’s vast series for a new generation. With a young cast and a more overt take on the homoerotic elements of the novels, AMC’s series was designed to kickstart a cinematic universe of adaptations from the author’s works. While Mayfair Witches did not work as well, the second season of Interview with the Vampire is a welcome return to the stories of Louis, Claudia, Lestat, and more. Billed as “Part II,” the second season chronicles the back half of Rice’s novel.

Horror takes a back seat to passion in AMC’s ravishingly voluptuous adaptation of Anne Rice’s Gothic masterpiece Interview with the Vampire. Elegant and literate even at its most ghoulish, the seductive second season even adds a theatrical flourish to its bag of dazzling tricks. “Are you kidding me?” scoffs the all-too-mortal interviewer, Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian). “It’s a telenovela!” he barks, when the undead Louis de Pointe du Lac (suave Jacob Anderson) reaches a particularly florid twist in his story of nocturnal searching and yearning. The new chapter takes him and his eternally young and hormonally frustrated “daughter” Claudia to Europe, fleeing New Orleans and the chaos that appears to have claimed Louis’ centuries-old lover Lestat (Sam Reid). We first encounter them amid the carnage of human warfare in World War II, exploring their ancestral lands and seeking evidence of their kind while feeding on the flesh of soldiers.

To choose emotion over action is how madness lies, or at least that's how it seems when it comes to television ratings in this Golden Age of procedurals.
It is rare to see a drama series deviate from by-the-numbers plots featuring by-the-book law enforcement characters because networks opt to make spinoffs within that formula rather than create new shows outside of it.
Someone apparently forgot to tell AMC because their deliciously non-formulaic series Interview With the Vampire is set to return for a highly-anticipated second season on May 12.
One could argue that this television series is a twice-over spinoff of Anne Rice's 1976 novel, the source material of the 1994 theatrical film starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Kirsten Dunst.
A better take might be to acknowledge how well this adaptation updates the original story to satisfy fans from both back in the day and now.

The first season of AMC's Interview With the Vampire took the internet by storm because it captured the gothic macabre of Anne Rice's famous novel. But it also took the implicit relationship between vampires Louis and Lestat and made it an explicit celebration of undead queerness. Season 1 was moody and deliciously camp, with Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson's devastating performances anchoring the gory spectacle. ...

“Guilty, or not guilty?” That is the question on Santiago’s (Ben Daniels) lips in the newest Interview With the Vampire Season 2 teaser. The video references an infamous trial scene near the end Anne Rice‘s novel of the same name, as hinted by Santiago’s judge’s wig. In the new teaser, Santiago, the leading vampire thespian of the Théâtres des Vampires in Paris, recites the “Laws of the Vampire,” one of the most important being that no vampire can kill another. That doesn’t bode well for Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Claudia (Delainey Hayles), who attempted to kill Lestat (Sam Reid) in the Season 1 finale. The vampires of the Parisian coven knew Lestat long before he arrived in New Orleans. As revealed in the first Interview With the Vampire Season 2 trailer, Lestat is a founding member of their theater. And he’s been presumed dead by Louis and...

Few television series debut to the kind of widespread acclaim Interview with the Vampire Season 1 did.
The first season was a revelation in many ways, from its take on the Anne Rice classic to its incredible casting and breathtaking set pieces. Critics and fans ate everything up and left no crumbs on the plate.
But a successful first effort doesn't guarantee a successful second act, as we've seen many series fail to capitalize on the goodwill and momentum gained during their freshman debut.
There's no rule book you can follow to a tee to avoid falling into a sophomore slump. If there were, then no series would ever regress, right?
One reason series take that step backward instead of forward is by getting away from what worked and leaving viewers feeling like they're not watching the same show anymore.
A lot of times, a series gets a wider berth after achieving success,...

“Memory is the monster.” That line is splashed all across Interview With the Vampire Season 2 marketing. We know that the new episodes will excavate Louis de Pointe du Lac’s (Jacob Anderson) memories in his interview with Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian). But what does “memory is the monster” really mean in this context? Clips throughout the Interview With the Vampire trailers help paint a picture of its possible definition. The most obvious definition is a simple one: Recovering repressed memories, and reliving the ones he could never forget, is going to be painful for Louis. Monstrously so. The vampire will also continue to be challenged on his recollection of events, as Daniel is not one to let up on his questioning — especially not now that he knows Louis to be an unreliable narrator. Another possible simple explanation is that the memory of Lestat (Sam Reid) haunts Louis. As Anderson previously told TV Insider,...

Interview with the Vampire Season 2: Cast, plot, premiere date, and everything else there is to know
The timeless love story at the heart of AMC’s Interview with the Vampire won many fans in 2022, but with increased delays for the second season, a lot has changed during the extended hiatus.

At the time of its launch, AMC was losing The Walking Dead as the long-running zombie drama signed off after 11 seasons, so new franchises were in demand by the cabler.
Interview with the Vampire broke through with critical acclaim. The show garnered plenty of praise and solid ratings, resulting in a very early renewal for Season 2.
Now that new episodes are approaching, we must review everything we know about the upcoming season.

If you’ve been theorizing that Armand has a hand in the suppression of Louis’ painful memories in AMC‘s Interview With the Vampire, the newest trailer for Season 2 adds more fuel for that fire. Louis’ memories come flooding back in the new Interview With the Vampire Season 2 trailer, released during The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live finale on Sunday, March 31, and they’re a doozy. We see Claudia (Delainey Hayles) scream, “It’s never been about me!” from the Théâtres des Vampires stage, her face bruised and bloodied, Louis attacking Lestat (Sam Reid) in a fit of rage, and more painful moments as Jacob Anderson‘s troubled vampire tells Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) they need to “get every detail right” in their Dubai interview. It’s a gut-wrenching experience for him as “all those years” start “coming back.” Claudia is initiated into the Parisian vampire coven, which Armand...

Interview With the Vampire just dropped the best trailer you’ll see all season. Cut by series creator Rolin Jones, the three-minute Interview With the Vampire Season 2 trailer shows passionate moments between Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Armand (Assad Zaman) as their relationship develops, but underscoring it all is Lestat’s (Sam Reid) haunting presence and flashbacks to his time before Louis, a time when he met Armand and seemingly had an intimate relationship, and a building intensity of the Dubai interview in 2022. As if that weren’t enough, the trailer also reveals flashbacks to young Daniel Molloy’s (Luke Brandon Field) original interview with Louis in San Francisco in 1973. “You don’t understand the meaning of your own story!” the young journalist yells, directly referencing a line from Anne Rice‘s original novel of the same name. It also reveals Succession‘s Justin Kirk speaking to present-day Daniel (Eric Bogosian) in a mystery role.

Retired English actor Daniel Day-Lewis is one of the greatest actors in cinema’s history. Although picky, the actor won numerous accolades throughout his career. Most of his performances, if not all, have been critically acclaimed. The proof of this fact is that he has three Academy Awards, making him the actor with the most Academy Awards for Best Actor.
Back to the part about him being picky, Day-Lewis has rejected roles in some great movies. For instance, he rejected the lead role in 1993’s Philadelphia and the role of the vampire Lestat in 1994’s Interview with the Vampire.
