Dua Lipa went all in on Saturday Night Live for the NBC show’s May 4 episode.“I’m here, I’m hosting, I’m performing, I’m making the wigs, I’m dealing Adderall to the writers, I’m doing it all,” she said in her opening monologue. “So tonight, I promise you, I’m gonna give you everything.” She also dealt out Radical Optimism — the name of her new album — to audience members in tough spots… though she couldn’t help South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem (played by Heidi Gardner). Check out highlights from Lipa’s episode below. “It’s insane,” Zeeko Zaki says of the three-season renewal that FBI received last month. “I don’t have words to describe how grateful and excited we all are.” Before we get to any of that, however, there are still a few episodes left of Season 7, and the one airing on May 7 is a major one for Zaki’s character, Oa. The team is thrown into a highly political case after four members of the Taliban are shot and one is kidnapped in New York with no record of their entrance into the country. “This case brings him face to face with his past life. We go back into his military past, we get to see him deal and interact with some ex-military members,” Zaki tells TV Insider. “We get to see him deal with some familiar villains from his past lives, the Taliban’s involved.” “No One Left Behind...

There was a mic drop moment at the end of an event in New York City celebrating 30 years of “The X-Files” when series creator Chris Carter reignited the debate around Dana Scully’s pregnancy.
Towards the end of “My Struggle IV,” the series finale episode in Season 11, Scully (Gillian Anderson) informs Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) that William (Miles Robbins) is not their son. He was an “experiment,” an “idea born in a laboratory” that she bore, Scully says. Mulder tries to come to terms with this revelation and says: “What am I now if I’m not a father?” Scully replies: “You are a father.

Here’s a little observation, bordering on an axiom, which has slowly developed over the years—as in, approximately half a century:
When Saturday Night Live returns from a hiatus, the first show back struggles to find both its rhythm and sketches that are well conceived and consistently funny.
SNL’s return last night carried with it a special challenge, because the last show before the break, hosted by Ryan Gosling, was arguably the funniest of the season, with one sketch, the Beavis and Butthead unaware look-a-likes, now the most-viewed clip of the current season.
And so, when the cold open tiptoed into risky territory, trying to find a way to get laughs out of the divisive and decidedly unfunny protests against the war in Gaza, a familiar sense of “oh it’s that hiatus issue” set in.
It even seemed as though the writers were sending a signal about...

May 4 marks Star Wars Day — as in the “May the Fourth be with you” — and, as a new trailer reveals, a date one month away from the premiere of the Disney+’s new Star Wars series The Acolyte. In the trailer hyping up The Acolyte’s June 4 premiere, the Jedi are in mortal peril during the High Republic era — they’re being hunted, says Jedi Knight Yord Fandar (Charlie Barnett) — and under criticism. “The Jedi justified a galactic dominance in the name of peace, but that peace is a lie,” trader Qimir (Manny Jacinto) argues. A synopsis for the series, meanwhile, reveals that an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits the respected Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae) against Mae, a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). “She was my student. I trained her,” Sol says in the trailer. “Let me be the one to bring her in.” As more clues emerge,...

It’ll be a busy summer for Carrie Coon. The actor will film the third season of The Gilded Age in New York right after she finishes filming the third installment of The White Lotus in Thailand. [Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Star Wars: Tales of The Empire Episodes 4, 5 and 6.] The subject of Barriss Offee’s (voiced by Meredith Salenger) whereabouts after the fall of the Republic has long been a debated subject among Star Wars fans. Some thought she’d managed to escape prison and saved Grogu… which turned out not to be the case. Some thought she’d show up in Ahsoka as an antagonist for her former friend to battle… which turned out not to be the case. As of the end of the final episode, we’re left conflicted about Barriss—and, again, we’re not sure whether she survived. Let’s break it down. Disney+ Did Barriss Offee Die? That’s the...

At the end of the 2001 movie “Monsters, Inc.,” the titular company decides to cut ties with tradition and do away with human children’s screams as a power source in favor of laughter. It was a fun tag that put a nice bow on Sulley’s character growth after meeting the human Boo. What the movie doesn’t show is whether the larger world of Monstropolis will be open to such a drastic change to their traditions and culture. That is at the heart of Disney+’s “Monsters at Work,” which, in its second season, brought workplace existentialism and the environmental revolution to the popular Pixar franchise — along with the surprise return of Steve Buscemi’s Randall Boggs. (More on that later.)
“The end of ‘Monsters, Inc.’ is great for the audience, but that doesn’t necessarily extend to the larger city and the larger world,” “Monsters at Work” showrunner Kevin Deters told IndieWire.

The actor, who starred as Spencer Cassadine in the long-running ABC soap, confirmed reports of his exit in an X post on Friday — and hinted that he, or his character, at least, might one day make a comeback. “I’m so appreciative of the opportunity that Gh gave me, and I wouldn’t be as busy as I am professionally if it weren’t for the talented producers, writers, directors, and fellow actors,” Chavez told fans in the X post. While there are no current plans for me to return, we are still talking very openly about future possibilities for Spencer in Port Charles.

Unfrosted might not be fully accurate in its portrayal of the race to create the first toaster pastry, but it does capture an essential truth: The more specific nostalgia is, the more universal its appeal. Which is why Unfrosted’s director, co-writer, and star Jerry Seinfeld’s personal passion for the Pop-Tart can be seen through the lens of a subversive yet somehow sweet look back at the ’60s, a time when kids roamed free (and right into dumpsters) and Shakespearean actors moonlighted as cereal mascots.

More than three years after Game of Thrones came to a divisive end, HBO returned to the land of Westeros with House of the Dragon, a Targaryen-centric prequel series that debuted on August 21, 2022. Fans weren’t meant to wait this long for a Game of Thrones spinoff — or “successor show,” as author George R. R. Martin prefers to call it — but HBO didn’t have the easiest time turning its smash hit into a franchise. Case in point: The pilot for another prequel series, the Naomi Watts-led project detailed below, cost $30 million to film, according to the James Andrew Miller book Tinderbox: HBO’s Ruthless Pursuit of New Frontiers (via Entertainment Weekly). The next spinoff in development was a Jon Snow sequel series that would see Kit Harington return to his most famous role. Harington himself has said it’s been shelved, but that’s not the only tale of Westeros in development.

If you are going to be a show about firefighters produced by the Shondaland banner, then you better be hot. Station 19 has delivered excellent drama, paid tribute to first responders, and given fans some extremely sexy scenes worthy of its production home. When TV Insider asked the cast of the ABC drama what their steamiest moment of the entire show was at the series wrap party, many of them said that the iconic Season 6 Maya (Danielle Savre) and Carina (Stefania Spampinato) shower scene or Travis’ (Jay Hayden) funeral hook up with Emmett (Lachlan Buchanan) in the Season 7 premiere took the cake. However, members of the Station 19 crew teased that fans haven’t actually seen the steamiest moment of the show yet. “We have one in Episode 7 coming up actually at the end of the episode, watch out for it. There is some steamy stuff happening,” co-showrunner Zoanne Clack told TV Insider.

The opening frame of A Man in Full shows the body of Atlanta businessman Charlie Croker (Jeff Daniels) lying lifeless on the floor. But even in death, he has a flair for confrontation: In voice-over, he asks a question of the viewer: “When you die, will people notice?”
Charlie’s brashness remains on full display as the story flashes back to 10 days prior, at his 60th birthday party. He confidently — arrogantly — makes the rounds, asking his ex-wife’s best friend Joyce (Lucy Liu) if she’s had cosmetic work done and forcefully greeting a banker, Raymond Peepgrass (Tom Pelphrey), with a hand tightly (and uncomfortably) clasped around the back of his collar — a moment that foreshadows the final scene, where Charlie’s hand once again finds its way around Raymond’s neck. But how exactly does Charlie’s hubris lead to his downfall? It’s time to dive into the...

Call your sister more often, Colter! Melissa Roxburgh comes in as Dr. Dory Shaw, the sister of Justin Hartley‘s character on Tracker—”This is the first time I’ve worked with a friend, so it’s super nice to just be familiar with him,” the actress says—and it’s not easy for her to get face time with her brother even when he’s in the same area! Colter’s not one to call her, either, as Dory calls him out on in the May 5 episode, which introduces the adult version (a professor) of the character we’ve seen as a kid in flashbacks. “I think he’s been like this a long time now,” Roxburgh tells TV Insider. “I think that their whole family kind of fell apart when [their father’s] death happened. So I think this isn’t new that she doesn’t see her brother very much,...

Wilson Cruz‘s journey to becoming Dr. Hugh Culber on Star Trek: Discovery—now in its final season, dropping Thursdays on Paramount+—had a few twists and turns. As he shares with TV Insider, he read about the series early on. “It was even before CBS All Access [the streaming service’s name before the Paramount+ rebrand]. I think it was CBS in general was going to bring Star Trek back to TV and Bryan Fuller was attached to create it. I had just worked with Brian a couple years before, maybe more on the series finale of Pushing Daisies,” he recalls. “I sent Bryan a little Dm on Twitter saying, ‘Hey, how are you? By the way, great article … about the new Star Trek series. By the way, huge fan, would love to be part of it.’ Shoot your shot, I say.” Cruz did get a response from Fuller. “Wilson, would be great to see you in a...

“We’ve all failed in our lives, but have you ever failed so bad, you bring back Jon Stewart?” Minhaj mused yesterday at the Netflix is a Joke comedy festival.
“I saved a dying institution,” Minhaj added. “You’re welcome.”
For those not following along, after an extended on-air audition process, Comedy Central had reportedly chosen Minhaj to be Trevor Noah’s successor at The Daily Show last summer and planned to make the announcement at the conclusion of the Writers Strike.
Before that could happen, The New Yorker published a widely-shared article that accused Minhaj of embellishing his confessional-style standup material with exaggerations and falsehoods. Although Minhaj later responded with his side of the story and a fact-check of the New Yorker’s fact-check, by then Comedy Central had reportedly backed away from Minhaj amid the controversy.
The Daily Show never did lock down a permanent host.
