[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Law & Order: Svu Season 25 Finale “Duty to Hope.”] Pressure is high to catch a rapist in the Svu Season 25 finale. There have been four victims in the past six months, and their unknown subject is escalating. He uses a coat hanger to bind his victims and sexually assaults them with a gun; the latest is still in the ICU. Not making it any easier is Ada Heidi Russell (Kate Loprest), the new chief of the Trial Division, isn’t exactly making any friends—with Benson (Mariska Hargitay) or Carisi (Peter Scanavino), the only one of the two who does work for her. In fact, she’s fine with charging a man, Hedges, who seems good for the attack that occurs near the beginning of this episode (his fingerprint at the scene)—and that man even pleads guilty—but then there’s another assault. Russell still believes that Hedges is good for ...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers Young Sheldon‘s Series Finale Episodes.] Young Sheldon‘s long-awaited Big Bang Theory crossover with Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik has finally arrived in the series finale, and with it, some answers to previously dropped Easter eggs and more. While the penultimate episode focused on George Sr.’s (Lance Barber) funeral, the finale installment tracked Sheldon through two different periods of his life, in the days leading up to his (Iain Armitage) arrival at Cal-Tech, and a near-future set a few years after The Big Bang Theory in which he’s (Parsons) writing a memoir. As adult Sheldon pieces together memories from that time in the past, his wife Amy (Bialik) pesters him to get ready for their son’s hockey match, which he’s hesitant to attend. But there’s a full-circle moment to it all as Sheldon reflects on his own father and the positive things about him that he’d previously ...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers Young Sheldon‘s Series Finale Episodes.] Young Sheldon closed the book on seven seasons of prequel magic in two final installments, bidding Cooper family patriarch George (Lance Barber) farewell in the first half and sending Sheldon (Iain Armitage) off to college in the second, while also unveiling a glimpse at future Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and his wife Amy (Mayim Bialik). In the tear-jerking opening installment, George’s funeral unfolded, which was understandably difficult for the family to cope with, including matriarch Mary (Zoe Perry). To fully capture the gravity of the unfolding event, Barber decided to lay in the casket for scenes as different family members delivered parting words for the beloved family member. “We can at once be kind of goofing off between takes and taking selfies, me and Lance… and then also when we’re shooting something and our producers ask me to go even further into emotion. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the Law & Order Season 23 Finale “In Harm’s Way.”] Heading into the Law & Order finale, we knew that the NBC drama is about to lose another major character. Earlier this season, the show lost a lawyer, with Sam Waterston leaving, and Tony Goldwyn‘s Baxter coming in to replace Jack McCoy as Da (there’s now an election coming up). Now, the cops will be saying goodbye to their lieutenant, with Camryn Manheim exiting. But how was Kate Dixon written out? Well, she wasn’t. Instead, the focus was very much on the case and Baxter. It looks like the Season 24 premiere will have to reveal what happened to Dixon, much like this season’s did with Cosgrove, following Jeffrey Donovan‘s exit over hiatus. Just when the Jimmys thought they were finally free of having to compete against John Oliver at the Emmys, another John has popped up in his place—John Mulaney.

The last-minute change came about as a result of the Television Academy. Just like the aristocratic ton, Bridgertonloves tradition. Season 3 follows in the steps of what came before. The premiere opens with a third Bridgerton sister preparing to make her debut. In Season 1, it was romantic Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor); in Season 2, it was anxious Eloise (Claudia Jessie), and now, in Season 3, it’s “pragmatic” Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd). Francesca is new to society, and Dodd is new to viewers. This is the actor’s first season on the show, stepping into a role that was recast for Bridgerton Season 3.
“Francesca has been preparing for [her debut] … Filming it was absolutely terrifying, because it was quite early on in production,” Dodd tells Tudum. “There was a little bit of life imitating art there. She was nervous and I was nervous. She was watching people, and I was watching people to learn. We were kind of going through it together.”...

Unfrosted might not be fully accurate in its portrayal of the race to create the first toaster pastry, but it does capture an essential truth: The more specific nostalgia is, the more universal its appeal. Which is why Unfrosted’s director, co-writer, and star Jerry Seinfeld’s personal passion for the Pop-Tart can be seen through the lens of a subversive yet somehow sweet look back at the ’60s, a time when kids roamed free (and right into dumpsters) and Shakespearean actors moonlighted as cereal mascots.
About that — the mascot in question is Tony the Tiger, and the real-life actor who voiced him was named Thurl Ravenscroft. And while, no, he was not a thespian who specialized in the Bard’s work, that’s the spin Hugh Grant has put on the character in Unfrosted, to great effect. Oh, my God.
The “Bridgerton” team absolutely heard some fans’ complaints about the lack of steamy scenes in Season 2. This time around, there is no such issue.
“It’s all about character,” showrunner Jess Brownell told IndieWire. “In Season 2, we had a lot of discussions about how much intimacy we wanted to see. And it had everything to do with the fact that Anthony is a very rigid and duty-bound character. His arc is about that rigidity. And so him just willy nilly having intimacy before marriage with someone wouldn’t make any sense. Penelope and Colin are not nearly as rigid as Anthony. So it was much easier to show more intimacy this season, and it is definitely a very steamy season.

In Hollywood, director Fernando Meirelles is known for critically acclaimed films like “City of God” and “The Constant Gardner.” His TV work had been confined to Brazil, which, he discovered while shooting the Apple TV+ series “Sugar,” was nothing like American TV production.
“My first impression [was] the size, the scale of the whole thing, it’s a big circus,” Meirelles told IndieWire. “You’re tied into this big machine, and you’re piloting the machine, but the machine is also taking you. It’s an interesting experience, much different from what I was used to, but I really enjoyed it.”
Meirelles description makes it sound like he was an important cog in the big wheel of TV production, which, of course, is common for directors who enjoy more autonomy of smaller films. Except “Sugar” does not move, look, or feel like anything on American TV. The coverage and cutting patterns are anything but conventional.

FX has confirmed that the once limited or anthology series heavyweight has been officially submitted and accepted in the drama categories, where it will compete against Netflix’s “The Crown,” Apple’s “The Morning Show” and Prime Video’s “Fallout.” In addition, the network has shared exclusively with Variety the complete list of 40 Emmy submissions, which includes six submissions for directing, four for writing, and two eligible guest actors. HBO’s “Game of Thrones” currently holds the record for most nominations in a single year with 32. Could FX break the monumental record?...

Summer is coming, but streamers want you to bundle up.
It has long not been an original thought to say that streaming is starting to look more and more like cable, but the industry has been taking new steps to ensure the comparison doesn’t die. On Tuesday, Comcast chief Brian L. Roberts revealed a coming bundle between NBCUniversal’s Peacock, Apple’s Apple TV+, and Netflix’s, well, Netflix. We did not get a price point or a launch date, but we do have a name: StreamSaver. Roberts promised significant savings, hence the name.
If the StreamSaver announcement sounds familiar, it’s probably because that is the precise promise of an also newly announced Summer 2024 Disney bundle between Disney+, Hulu, and Max. Disney has long-experienced the strength of a bundle with two options for consumers to combine its in-house streaming services: the duo is Disney+ and Hulu, the trio adds ESPN+.

One the best, most underrated and ambitious TV shows of that past few years is back and y’all need to saddle up for it. Launched in 2022 on Prime Video, Season 1 of Outer Range at first looked like a moodier Yellowstone, with Josh Brolin as Royal Abbott, a gruff Wyoming rancher trying to save his property from a land dispute with his oddball neighbors. Meanwhile, he and wife Cecilia (Lili Taylor) were also dealing with their two sons, Rhett and Perry (Lewis Pullman and Tom Pelphrey) and the granddaughter left behind by Perry’s missing wife. Average Western soapy stuff. That was until shortly into the series premiere, Outer Range went Outer Limits: Royal discovered a massive, bottomless and unexplained hole out in his west pasture. And when his neighbor’s son was accidentally killed by Perry in a bar fight, he then disposed of his body into said mysterious hole.

Big changes are ahead for Grey’s Anatomy. The long-running medical drama has been renewed for Season 21, but the show’s making some major moves next season. The ABC drama is moving to 10 p.m. on Thursdays and will reportedly be losing series regulars Jake Borelli and Midori Francis amid a budget cut. Will Season 21 be the end of the road for Grey’s Anatomy? “Not at all,” Disney TV Group President Craig Erwich told Deadline. He explained that the timeslot move from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. is a “great opportunity for ABC to launch a new show [Doctor Odyssey], as well as to keep Grey’s on a night where it’s been extraordinarily successful for many years.” The show is nearing the end of its milestone 20th season and remains the longest-running medical drama on TV. “I think the show is creatively firing on all cylinders and continues to...

Policing in the US can serve as a sort of Rorschach test: Are the cops a corrective force necessary to combat criminals? Or a hotbed of corruption whose unchecked authority poses a threat to disadvantaged communities? Power, the new documentary by director Yance Ford, addresses these tough questions while carefully considering how policing as we know it came to be.
The subject has interested Ford for decades, a fascination he traces back to the murder of his brother in 1992. He first explored it in his Academy Award-nominated 2017 documentary Strong Island, which revisits a grand jury’s failure to indict the man who committed the crime.
“On some level, I’ve been thinking about the police for 30 years,” Ford tells Tudum, noting that the wellspring of conversation, protests, and police crackdowns during the spring and summer of 2020 led him to reconsider the overall purpose of policing. “In the aftermath...

Lovo, a Berkeley-based AI startup, was accused in a class action lawsuit on Thursday of stealing actors’ voices to create Genny, a publicly accessible AI generator.
Paul Skye Lehrman and Linnea Sage, a New York couple who work as voice actors, alleged that they were deceived into providing voice samples through a freelance website. They were paid $1200 and $400, respectively, for reading scripts, and were told the recordings would be used internally, or for academic purposes.

In 2014, Naomi Watts voiced an animated version of herself in the “BoJack Horseman” episode “One Trick Pony.” The Watts in Hollywoo — the “BoJack” stand-in for the entertainment industry’s epicenter, inhabited mostly by anthropomorphic animals — is starring opposite BoJack in a biopic about his frenemy, Mr. Peanutbutter. She appears on set preparing to play Diane, a burgeoning writer. The meta joke is the actress accepted the part to get a break from emotionally draining, praiseworthy performances.
“I just keep getting pigeonholed as these complex characters in highly acclaimed movies,” the animated Watts bemoans to a character who is a parody of host Ryan Seacrest (A Ryan Seacrest Type). “For once, I would just love to phone it in and play a two-dimensional girl in a rom-com with no inner life of her own. That’s kind of the reason I got into this business.”
Ten years later, that tongue-in-cheek guest appearance now feels almost prophetic.

Let the rumors be true — FX has renewed Shōgun, the premium cabler's most watched series ever (based on global hours), for additional seasons. FX and Hulu are reteaming with the Estate of James Clavell for two additional seasons of the sweeping drama series, easily one of the best shows of 2024. Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo, series co-creators, EPs, and writers, are on board once more along with EP Michaela Clavell, and series star and producer Hiroyuki Sanada. The writers’ room is being assembled and will begin this summer, though there's no word yet on a production schedule.

Theres’s no stopping Shōgun. FX and Hulu have confirmed that it’s working with the James Clavell estate to produce not just one, but two more seasons of its excellent period drama, with star Hiroyuki Sanada attached to return as Lord Yoshii Toranaga. FX announced on Thursday, May 16 that Shōgun‘s key creative partners — including co-creators, executive producers, and writers Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo, executive producer Michaela Clavell, and series star and producer Sanada — are on board for the development of future seasons. FX says the story and characters viewers met in Season 1 will “continue the saga that will likely yield two additional seasons of the drama series.” An exact production window has not been locked in, but a writers’ room is currently being assembled and will begin work this summer. Shōgun‘s 10-episode first season is FX’s most-watched show ever based on global hours streamed, the network says.

More “Shōgun” is in the works.
The hit FX for Hulu series is in development in two more seasons; “Shōgun” was originally announced as a limited series.
Co-creators, executive producers, and writers Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo would return for Seasons 2 and 3, which FX says are now “likely” to happen, along with executive producer Michaela Clavell and series star and producer Hiroyuki Sanada. Production has not been set as the additional seasons have not yet been ordered — but a writers’ room is being assembled and will begin in the summer. The estate of novelist James Clavell, whose work the series is based on, has also approved the additional seasons.
So, about that whole “limited” thing… IndieWire can confirm the series is being entered as a Drama series at this year’s Emmys, not in the Limited Series category.

Variety has learned that FX, Hulu and the estate of James Clavell — who authored the novel on which “Shōgun” is based — are working to develop more seasons of the critically acclaimed series. A writers’ room will begin this summer to develop two more seasons of the show.
It must be noted that this is not a formal renewal, and no production has been scheduled for more episodes. Series co-creators Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo remain onboard the series, as does executive producer Michaela Clavell of the James Clavell estate, as well...
