The Schoolgirl The Nazis and The Purple Triangles is the award-winning autobiographical account of a young girl's courage in the face of insurmountable odds. Set during the Nazi occupation of Eastern France, it tells the story of one 12-year-old's struggle to follow her conscience rather than give in to Nazi propaganda and persecution. The film looks at the Nazi persecution of Jehovah's Witnesses as seen through the eyes of a schoolgirl. Jehovah's Witnesses were among the first prisoners of concentration camps for their refusal to say "Heil Hitler", join the army, or participate in the Nazi way of life. In concentration camps, Jehovah's Witnesses, unlike Jews and other prisoners, had, according to Professor Christine King, "a unique and fairly easy way to get out". All they had to do was sign a document renouncing their faith. Only a handful ever did. The film "The Schoolgirl The Nazis and The Purple Triangles" features dramatic reconstructions, historical archive film, interview footage with Simone Arnold Liebster, and historical background from Professor Christine King CBE, President of Staffordshire University and is directed by Royal Television Society Award winner Jonny Lewis. https://jonnylewisfilms.com/purpletrianglesfilm
