The Return of Tanya Tucker: Featuring Brandi Carlile (2022)
Life and goodness can lurk in shadows.
I knew a little about Tanya Tucker so I was interested to watch this. What I did not expect was the incredible story of Brandi Carlile and her efforts to put this all together. I'm a person that can "read" into people imo. I was struck by the goodness of Brandi and her true desire to help her childhood idol not rest in faded glory. I truly think her motives were altruistic. This led me to look into her career a bit and by so doing discovering her great gift as singer/songwriter. This was well done and did not pitch Tanya for Sainthood, but as older, perhaps just as crusty version of her earlier self. It's a feel good story. What worked for me is seeing the goodness in Brandi, her interactions with others, and discovering her great talent. I watched wanting to know more about Tanya and left with newfound respect for Tanya and a new heroine on many fronts in Brandi. Good people do still exist.
Sunshine Hotel (2001)
A lucky find imo.
I just stumbled on this, and found it quite interesting. Some of the featured players really impressed me. I would say that several of them appear smarter, more analytical and actually much more decent than the politicians we pay so well in DC. This was a bit eye-opening, sad and yet hopeful and all blended well together. Pray for them.
For the Win (2017)
Good and bad
The concept is excellent and exposes viewers to some fringe sports that seem like fun. The host tainted it for me. I found him loud and abrasive and even disrespectful to some of the other players and their sports. Big turn-off for me. Recast that role, and I think it would be quite successful.
60 Days In: It's About to Get Ugly (2019)
Get me out of here.
All about Steve willing to scuttle entire project due to his fear of the big boys. They were right to yank him.
