Black Mirror: Crocodile (2017)
Worst Episode in the entire series
This is honestly the worst episode in the entire series. Not only do they NOT give you the satisfaction of watching her being arrested after having to watch the horrible and terrible things that went on the whole episode, but it was just so unrealistic.
Yes, in a show about Dystopia, it's going to be unrealistic. My issue was with her choices. She took a bad situation and made it ten times worse when no rational human would even come close to doing so.
This was the episode that made me quit black mirror for good. Cliff hanger endings aren't my thing; even though we know what's coming.
I would not recommend watching this.
Osmosis (2019)
I loved it.
I don't understand the negative reviews. I believe if you haven't finished a series, don't review it. It starts off slow but the plot twists are insane and different from any other shows. The characters each have their own personalities in which I adore. I also didn't see anything bad with the writing. I always watch films in their original audio, so I watched this in French which made the experience much more pleasant for me.
I did knock two stars off the ending. Perhaps there will be a season 2, but the ending of season 1 was very dry.
Dangerous Beauty (1998)
I absolutely loved it
I always adore period pieces but this one was much different. In the age of inequality for women, this film highlights the struggles of a young common wealth girl who falls in love with a man of status, only to have her dreams crushed by realizing he can't marry her. By the help of her mother, she becomes a courtesan and struggles the desire of love.
Not only way this film remarkable in every way, the acting was astounding, characters were beautifully casted, and it gave such a satisfying ending. The fact that it was based on a true story is even more beautiful. An absolute tale of the times with such satisfying writing. I recommend!
The Invitation (2015)
Great thriller!
This movie was an excellent Thriller. Despite the slow pacing, which I feel worked, the writers did an excellent job at the script. Each character felt real and different from each other. It slowly builds but it's end result is worth it. I would highly suggest this film if you like twists.
Unlike most endings of thrillers that end open ended, this entire ending is so satisfying and makes it feel worth the film. It takes a different approach. I would watch again.
Suite Française (2014)
Beautiful story of the times!
I absolutely love this story. It's a marvelous and beautiful story during a tragic and sad time of the war. Michelle Williams does excellent, I love the different languages used which enhances the realism!
It would've been 10 stars for me, had the ending been more completed, despite the book. I wanted Atleast some form of an ending. Otherwise amazing film!
Dumbo (2019)
Yikes Disney ruins it again
Dumbo is one of my favorite Disney movies in the entire world. However, I am currently in the film watching with my family. Biggest regret ever but my cousins are here and we'd hate to make them leave early. They basically kept the name but totally lost the significance of Dumbo.
It's extremely slow moving. I don't understand the extra "Hollywood" they added to this film but it absolutely ruined it. It feels extremely Hollywood and overdone and I really wish they had stuck to the original story.
Like every other live action, Disney disappoints. I actually had faith in this one but it's completely eradicated. Save your money and watch the classic. This isn't the film you want to see.
Also, it feels so long. They changed it so dumbo doesn't have the mouse as a best friend anymore. Please don't waste time. For Disney: Please do better because we are losing so much faith in you.
Edit: Post film, I will say the special effects were great. My least favorite aspect were the children. Extremely emotionless! Fire in your face? Stand still. Sad moment? Stand still. They really could have found much better children actors. DeVito did good, as usual. It just fell so short, I'm so heartbroken they portrayed Dumbo this way.
The Act (2019)
Episode 1 and boring
I have researched the story of Gypsy. I remember when it first happened. Then I watched every documentary and interview by Gypsy.
I had high hopes for this until Hulu decided to make it weekly. Which totally defeats the purpose of a streaming service. I'm not paying for TV, I'm paying for a streaming service. To watch at my own pace. Hulu just wants people to keep buying a subscription for three months. Which, if they delivered this all at once, Hulu wouldn't need to worry about losing money.
Also, the acting is great! I love the acting it's similar to the real people. However, the episode so far drags and I keep waiting for it to be over. It just drags and drags. I heard this was going to be 10 episodes long and there's no way it needs to be THAT long. It drags and drags and doesn't really keep you hooked, I don't understand why people say it does. If you know the story, it's just dull and the documentary is better.
This show is probably better for people who aren't familiar with the story. That's probably where all of the 9 star reviews come from. People who are just hearing about the case through this series.
Wish it had been better. I won't rate 9 stars for actors even though they did great. But a production is more than just the acting. Disappointing.
Picnic at Hanging Rock (2018)
Great Mini Series - Awful Ending Execution
I will admittedly say that I enjoyed this series extremely. I felt drawn to the characters. I think the acting was incredible, aside from the detective, and I think the cinematography is amazing as well. Beautifully captured scenes. However, I am heart broken that the ending wasn't executed better.
The audience receives absolutely no resolution, no answers, no explanations, not even on Sara. The girls are never found and their pact is never explained. Some areas of rock looked too lush for Australia. I wish the ending was resolved, it felt like a lazy way to what could've been a 10 star series.
I'm rating seven stars because the show had me hooked entirely throughout and I watched it all in one night. It was only the ending that docked those three stars for me.
