Le livre d'image (2018)
I don't know what to say
I've seen a lot of weird movies. But this is too weird for me. Maybe a few years, or a few more bizarre movies, will lead me to appreciate this one. Right now it's not gonna happen.
I give it a 5, simply because I found it aesthetically pleasing, and it seems like something I could like.
Requisitos para ser una persona normal (2015)
Funny and beautiful
I'm a big fan of quirky, funny and relatable movies.
Sometimes I know most of this movies are not technical masterpieces, or simply they lack in substance, but that does not make them less enjoyable, after all, the main purpose of cinema when it was born was more to entertain an audience that was going through a rough time, during ww one, all of the complex and technically appealing works came a long time after.
Keeping that in mind, I love the way this movie portraits the idea of "being normal" as the basic aspects of what nowadays is considered a "successful life" and shows it as something quirky and relatable and it's persistent in showing you how being different can be something good. It's not a deep reflexion in life, it's just quirky people doing quirky things.
The characters are moderately good, they have a good, but small development and overall they're fine.
The scenery is something I found quite beautiful, but that's just a personal opinion.
It's definitely enjoyable and it can get you a couple of laughs. It's definitely not gonna win a Cannes but it definitely is not bad.
I think is a really fun and beautiful film.
It's Such a Beautiful Day (2012)
WHY AM I EMOTIONAL OVER A STICK FIGURE
This is the most beautiful, most precious thing I've ever seen.
Definitely worth every second of it.
The Midnight Gospel (2020)
It's like an essay had s*x with adventure time
I just watched the first episode and right off the bat I knew this was not a regular show. It's... interesting I guess that's the best way to describe my feeling for this show, but in a good way.
It's an animated podcast and that's what makes it good. It's out of the ordinary and I think that's what makes Pendleton Ward's work so remarkable.
