Jim Gaffigan: The Pale Tourist (2020)
Loved it
Jim's humor is offbeat and weird. He speaks to himself out loud in the third person and he sometimes laughs at his own humor. But in Canada he has great timing and the audience loves him. There is no repeating of one liners, no redundant jokes, but great humor regarding Canada and the Canadians seem to love it. He speaks about the provences and the difference between Canadians and Americans. I found him funny with great timing. He is a clean comedian, hardly a swear word and he always talks about being a Catholic. I'm not but I fond his Catholic humor pretty funny since I used to be Catholic myself. I figured I'd run into a lot of disgruntled fans because of Jim's twitter rampage. These are people who USED to find him funny until he made political statements. Then, they write bad reviews. I call BS on those. Love his humor, love the ideas he and his wife come up with and I love his delivery. Id like it even if he had different political views than I did.
Delicious (2016)
So Delicious!
I found this wonderful program on Acorn TV and watched the first two seasons. What a treat for both the eyes and the heart. Two women married to the same man (one divorced from him but sleeping with him) and his current wife run his hotel/restaurant when he dies suddenly. There is drama, love and the realization that they are really family underneath it all. A third season was added and I binge watched it and it drew me in even more. What is it about British shows, even Canadian and Australian shows that are so inviting and exciting to us? Delicious is no different. The characters are rich and complicated and you have definite feelings about each one of them.
Lorena (2019)
You THINK you know.....
Like a lot of people, I followed this case and read about it in the papers when it was happening. But what I remember most was he was found innocent. To me, that meant she was guilty. There is much more to the story. Much more. Lorena's testimony is riveting. It nearly had me in tears. And John's subsequent revolting behavior toward women eventually prove her testimony to be true. That he is a psychopath who is sadistic to his young wife and ultimately sadistic to other women comes through loud and clear. She never denied mutilating him. She was tried by a jury of her peers. She completed the sentence handed down by the court. Not sure why all the hate. To those who are using the "uberliberal agenda" and other such buzzwords to excuse the horrific domestic violence this woman endured (and getting upvotes for it I might add), boo hooing because a tiny percentage of women lie, you shame the women in your life.
