The true facts of Freddie's life are much more interesting than this fictional story
19 July 2021
Only watched 17minutes and sadly have to quit as it is NOT the true story of Freddie. Why did the writers need to change the life of such a unique person?

Of course there is great music but this movie gets zero credit for that. Gave 2 stars for the costumes only.

Informative, quirky and entertaining show.
10 September 2018
Long enough to give some insight into different types of accommodation in the USA but made more interesting with the concept of two colleagues exploring how different living spaces enhanced or put stress on their relationship as friends. The hosts are lovely and down to earth. Really enjoyed exploring different lifestyles with them.

The growing friendship between an introvert and an extrovert was also really lovely to watch. Hope Garrett finds someone, as caring as he is, to build a home together with.

Memories of 8 years in student accommodation made their experiences in the small spaces very relatable. I am also an introvert and I totally understood why Nikki needed so much sleep while travelling in the RV with 3 or 4 men (Garrett and the film crew).

It made me think of all the other shows with a host, when I felt sorry for the film crew. They have to get up earlier than the hosts to film them complaining that it is too early to get up. Then they have to stay up later than the hosts to film them switching off the lights and saying "good-night!". Some shows I've watched, where the hosts are complaining of the steep hill they are climbing carrying just a bottle of water, make me frustrated as I know how heavy all the equipment the film crew is carrying, while running backwards and forwards up the same hill.

Wish they could have mounted cameras around the RV and used the hand-held cameras more (instead of travelling with the film crew) for the RV episode.

Hope there is a season 2, as left off not knowing how their relationship as colleagues has been affected by these experiences.

Real Japan
29 April 2006
If you want to see a little of the real Japan then watch this movie rather than "Lost in Translation" (which would have been better if it was filmed in New York so the director knew what she was talking about). Yes, it is a bit slow in some parts but anyone who has been on a self-finding journey will relate, and laugh even more at the funny situations they get into. Germans and Japanese have a lot in common so that makes the misunderstandings real rather than the usual "foreigners in Japan trying to make the Japanese seem like savage aliens".

In this time of reality TV and home-movies being used on various TV shows, the hand-held camera shots are very real. Also interesting is that the characters names are the actors real names so it adds to the effect.
