Meine verrückte türkische Hochzeit (2006)
absolutely cool
I enjoy watching films that remind me of home. Germans and Turks just make great partners, they love and hate each other - just like two people who have been married for a while ;0) The people displayed in this movie are so real, their language, their accents and wonderful sentence structure :0) Makes me think how my English works for natives here :0) I loved every minute of watching it. Cute main actors. Altogether a great cast, yummy 'Curry Wurst' and cool Turkish and international music. Funny and Real. I am definitely going to watch the movie with my Turkish girlfriend again and we will crack up once more. One has to be German or a Turk raised in Germany though to understand the fun in every little thing in this movie - sorry.
King Arthur (2004)
Best King Arthur ever
I totally agree with the many who have already pointed out that this was a great movie. This new take on Arthur and his knights is in fact the best I have ever seen. The written introduction containing the 'historic' background made me stumble and wonder if I got it all wrong. I have to admit that my knowlegde of Britain's history is not great and every native my forgive me when I say that - in the end - the mix-up of times and places didn't matter enough to me to take away the wonderful mood the movie left me in. The movie and the comments I have read so far, however, make me want to read more about the true history. Thank you all for that!
From my point of (movie-goer) view the story is wonderfully told and the music and camera work are phenomenal. I was amazed by the scenery, the horses, the smog and fog on the meadows and in the forests...the snow made me feel the cold and the breaking ice just took my breath.
The interaction between the knights was stunning. 'One for all and all for one', even though this was the saying in another great tale.
Sure, Guinevere seems awfully strong for someone who had just been freed from an underground prison, almot starved to death....I guuess it was the pure will to kill the enemy...
I loved the scene when, towards the end, Arthur came riding out of the roman fort through the smog...
I wish I had seen this movie in the theater. Now I know what I missed when I didn't. Too bad the critics killed this movie. I know now that I will trust my instinct when I like a trailer to a movie.
Stolen Women, Captured Hearts (1997)
Wonderful movie
This is one of the few movies that really takes one away from reality...great actors, scenery. The story is simple but life was simple then, too and the focus is on the main characters without adding too much side story. I would compare this movie to The Last Of the Mohicans in many regards. There we actually see four very believably played lovers. The Last Of The Mohicans naturally shows much more variation in scenery since it was made for the movies but it is not more believable. Both movies have touched me and I love them for what they are. They make my dreamworld richer and every-day life easier. I don't need to see too much reality in movies.
