The Brothers Sun (2024)
Good action scenes and comedy
The writing is really strong, and the series had good character development and a lot of heart. I especially like the actor that played Charles. He didn't overact, but gave a subtle performance that shows his inner emotions and conflicts. It's good to see Michelle Yeoh on screen as always. I also appreciated the humor of the show, especially when they were staying at John Cho's house. I thought all the pictures of John Cho on the wall were really funny. I do hope there will be a Season 2, and that Justin Chien will get more roles.
There is a lot of criticism of Bruce's character. At one point, I did feel the same way. I wanted to scream at his character for being so stupid; but after thinking about it some more, I could understand why he did what he did. Out of desperation and fear for his life, and the desire for his family to get out of the triads, he did something that is rather stupid. Knowing how hard it is for an Asian male to get a leading role in a drama, I certainly don't want all the criticisms to ruin it for the actor. I think he did the best he could, giving the script at hand. Since it is a gangster comedy, it's okay to have scenes that are a little outrageous, silly, over-the-top, and not 100% logical.
Selleobeuriti (2023)
English dubs needs improvement
I found the beginning episodes more entertaining than the later episodes. I was somewhat enjoying the show, but I had to stop watching due to the English dubbed profanity. Normally, I'm fine with a bit of profanity here and there, but I prefer not to hear Jesus/Christ expletives. Not to be judgy, and I understand the Korean translators might not be aware that in some English speaking countries, those words are not pleasant to hear for many individuals. I think it's best to find other ways to express frustrations. Like me, a lot of viewers like K dramas because they're wholesome and heartwarming.
